Good BP device.
The product arrived on schedule and was well packaged with an outer box and a factory box. The product was as advertised and worked well. I like to be able to see the results of each of the 3 readings used and adjusted the wait time to 15 seconds. The only problem is that the cuff is very stiff and I seem to get EE error message quite frequenctly. Measures seem about right and the construction is excellent.*** Update: I tried to get updated software for this product and was advised by OmronHealthcare.com support that this is a European version that is NOT supported in the US. Don't buy for US application. No Support if you want to transfer datato a PC.

Waste of money
Waste of money. I have to take my BP every morning and then collate the readings and email them to my GP. I got fed up writing them down and inputting them to my PC, adding them up and calculating a monthly average. So, when I saw the Omron with USB port I thought "Aha the answer to a maiden's prayer." Wrong. The biggest problem and the biggest waste of time is the cuff. Now why they had to reinvent the cuff when there is a standard cuff which has been around for about a 100 years and works perfectly, I don't know. But, they did and it's rubbish. I take 3 readings and the machine averages them out. Because of the cuff I get a high failure rate, probably in the region of 40%. The only benefit from this is that it puts my BP up because it's so irritating. I suffer from low pulse and lowish BP.That's the mechanical side of things now for the software. Several things wrong with it, for a start it's a codge. You can imagine the scene back at base "XYZ, our main competitors have brought out a PC connection and one can upload the BP readings to a PC". So, they rush out this simple piece of software which does nothing for the patient. I take 3 readings every morning and the machine gives me an average reading. When it prints out the readings it merely sticks out the 3 readings with no average. So what is the point of that? Nil I should say. So I have to add up 3 x 31 readings and find an overall average. That is just pathetic, but wait there are graphs. Unfortunately they print out so small they are almost unreadable and no matter what I try I can't make them bigger. No senior cardiologist is going to struggle to make something of the graphs or the readings. On the bright side my GP practice uses the same BP meter but they use the old-fashioned cuff, there has to be a moral there and certainly I am going to look for a old style cuff. I'm also going to brush up on my Excel and see if I can't produce a half decent little app which will solve the problems mentioned earlier. BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO, SHOULD I?

Very disappointing, not worth the expense, far better and cheaper alternative available
I bought this a) because its a well established recognised name and b) for the IT recording facility - be warned that does not work on OSX it will only work with PC so that was disappointing but I decided to continue with it for its morning and afternoon averaging features. Everything was fine at first but increasingly it reported errors and failed to take readings this has got so bad that it fails far more often than it works so I recently replaced it with this one Kinetik Medical BPX1TL Advanced Blood Pressure Monitor - 3rd Gen. At less than half the price it is a far superior unit never having failed a single reading so far. I have also noticed that there is a slight discrepancy between the readings from the machines with Omron generally giving slightly higher readings. The recommendations in the literature for the Omron advise you to seek medical help if your readings are 185/85 or greater, having done just this I was advised by my doctor that this is far too low a threshold. The advice in the Kinetic is far more pragmatic and in line with my doctors recommendations

Hard to forget this is not a gadget
I bought this having had a suspected stroke and definite hypertension and having been told to get my blood pressure down. I didn't know how to measure my progress and saw this on Amazon. It is very easy to assemble and to operate. As somebody else mentioned do not be put off by the size of the manual. It is multilingual therefore only the first few pages are dedicated to English. It appears to give accurate readings. There is some variation if you are doing three readings but I accept that as being normal. When I have visited my GP they have only usually done one reading which I think is probably due to time constraints. On a visit to the hospital the other day my consultant took three readings over about a five minute period and he had variations in the readings. He was using the same piece of kit as me. I had walked to the hospital and naturally my readings were higher at the beginning. The point is don't take your readings just after exercise or just after eating as it will give a high reading.Getting an appointment with my GP is a nightmare and what this monitor has allowed me to do is to take along a record of a weeks worth of readings done am and pm to evidence that my blood pressure is going down. I haven't yet used the software as I have manually recorded it but that was due to the fact that two people in my household have decided to take their blood pressures with it and this would have thrown the readings out as they did not alter the setting from A (the main user) and B which would not have affected my results. All in all a very good buy at a very good price.

Nice device with some very useful features. Tests appear to be accurate.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to determine which blood pressure monitor to purchase. There are a myriad of devices out there that suit every single pocket but it is very hard to find suitable buying guides. In the end I found that the best two products in this price range on the market appear to be the Omron 10 series or the Microlife. I chose the Omron because they are a better known brand and I have used their products before. Many GP's recommend this particular brand too so it seemed to be the right choice. There are a myriad of professional studies out there comparing the two and most seem to suggest that they are both good at what they do. I chose this over the Omron elite model for two reasons. The 10 series appear to be a more reliable model, plus the batteries are AA and not AAA which means you won't be forever changing them.Upon first use you are prompted to enter the date, time and year. You also can select whether you want a single test or a triple test. The latter effectively meaning the unit will run three tests in succession with a user set time gap in between. I opted for 15 seconds, but you can have a larger gap of time should you wish. From memory I believe it goes up in 15 second gaps up to a minute or so. You also have a sliding bar on the right hand side to select between user A and user B. This is handy for couples but I guess if you have a larger family then you will have to use the guest mode for any more than 2 people. The benefit of having two user modes are that you can keep a track of the last 88 tests performed, handy if you suffer from Hypertension/Hypotension and need to keep a track of your progress. It is also handy to be able to provide your doctor with your results with the provided USB cable and software. To use the device, you simply put the arm band on your left arm, get in a seated position, then press start. It is important here to relax and not move as it can affect the results. Do not try to do this test in a laying position and your pressure will be different. Depending on what mode you have selected previously when setting up, the machine will run a single or a triple test. Your results are displayed on screen in a large easy to read screen. You can hit the memory button on the bottom to cycle through your previous readings to check on your progress. It lists the date and time of each test you have performed which is very useful. It is so very easy to use and once you have set it up you pretty much don't have to worry about how to use it, just one button and go.The arm band is much better than the older omron units. It is cushioned to a degree and feels very hard, like it has a formed insert inside that keeps its shape. The fit will suit most people as well. It's as comfortable as you get although you will never find a blood pressure monitor that doesn't make you feel uncomfortable as the test is performed. The device comes with batteries which is always a nice touch and the whole lot is packaged up in a handy zip case.
