Experiencing the World's Religions: Tradition, Challenge, and Change, 5th Edition

the condition wasn't as good as I had hoped but it will work fine for my class. All that matters is the content is there

I am currently taking this course in college. I chose to take this course because I am not a religious person but I am a curious person, especially about religion. This book coincides with the course perfectly. This material covers the facts and provides information on the world’s major religions. I strongly recommend everyone read this book and expand you mind and gain insight to the major religions of the world. It is important to know that the information covered in this book is just that, information. The material does not try and sway anyone to one religion or another. It has a wealth of information that will either enhance your current religious beliefs and/or expand on your spirituality.

Great book to helping understanding different religions

I guess my idea of acceptable might be different than other peoples opinions. I ordered the book for a class I am taking and though it is useable, it is in the roughest shape I have ever seen. The cover was completely curled back on itself, and most of the chapters are highlighted with MANY different colors, and pen and pencil. I am going to use the book but WOW, I would have purchased a used one at the college for $14.00 more if I had know the shape it was in. There is no way I will be able to sell this book again.

It's an interesting book, but my professor chose it as the lesser of all evils. He keeps having to supplement the book with handouts because of important points that the author seems to have omitted. The stories are interesting though. I just don't really understand why our professor chose a book he is unhappy with. We pay a lot of money for our texts just to have him criticize Molloy constantly for leaving out important details about different religions.The book is fine so long as your professor isn't nit picky.

I had to buy this for a college class, but the writing style is very "eh" Upon reading it, I prefer the book "World Religions Today" which has beautiful photographs of the cultures and religions. This book just has pictograms and such and also the "You are walking down a street" writing style that the author employs is VERY irritating and takes you out of the reading. If you don't have to get this for a class, I would instead recommend the book "World Religions Today" by John L Esposito. Hope this helps!

Reading this for a religions class at my college, and while my copy is gently loved, I love all the brand new info I'm learning through this book. Would like it if the chapters didn't have the long anecdotal introductions as well, but overall a great textbook for class!

I will admit it, I had to buy the book for a class on World Religions that I was taking. I now enjoy going back and re-reading the book. I am seeing the world of religion in a more enlightened view.

A good primer and beginner's guide to various belief systems and spritual thinking, as well as their history. The Timeline is helpful; though, for the advanced academic, a bit too generalised. For a book of this length, and for its emphasis on a "sympathetic" (as opposed to technically objective) approach, it is a good intro for the undergraduate and general reader as well. Citations can further and refine your research if you please, or you can simply read it for a good overview to get a sympathetic "feel" for relgious belief systems throughout recent (2000 BCE to today) history, which still have adherents today.

I ordered a used textbook and saved over $50 compared to the selling price at school. The condition was a lot better than I expected and much better than what I would have found at my university book store. Just a few kinks in the book but no highlighting or writing. It doesn't even look like it was ever used. I was also pleasantly surprised that the item arrived a week later than expected. Overall, a wonderful experience with this seller and would definitely buy from them again.
