easy to understand
This book explains the newest research into how the brain and pain are tied together. It is explained in basic terms using everyday terms and examples to make the layperson understand the science of the bodies reaction to pain. I was able to read it in one sitting and not feel overwhelmed by the data. I used it in conjunction with my physical therapist treatment. You don't need any medical training to understand this book.

Chronic Pain People This is a Great Short Read Book
I have been living with chronic pain for 25 years. As I am getting older I am now also experiencing age related pain. My Physical Therapist recommended this book. It is an easy ready and good fit for me. It provides a clear and in my opinion better way of looking at my pain. For those of you suffering with chronic pain, you have probably tried many things. So have I. I leave no rock unturned when it come to learning ANY possible way to live with pain and hopefully ease it. I recommend this book. Especially if you are familiar with the corporate world or any genre of work where many people are involved.

Useful
It has useful information about why and how our bodies experience pain, both acute and chronic. I learned a few things and had some ideas confirmed. It is not a magic pill for relief, of course, but it does offer some suggestions that will take time to have effect. Keep in mind that it is a small book, about 6 x 9 inches and only 48 pages. The text is large and double spaced and there are many illustrations. The ideas are communicated well with the combination of text and illustrations. It is full color, on thick, almost glossy pages. But given all that I think it is overpriced.

Very Helpful Book
I have recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune illness that causes a lot of pain. This little book helped me better understand my pain, why/how it occurs...so I can help alleviate it. Super short. Easy to read and understand.

Nothing new
A half hour read, if that, and I can’t say that I really took anything away from it. But I will say that it is written in a very reader friendly manner that anybody could read and understand. I guess I just hoped for more.

Happy with this book!
This book is easy to read, easy to understand and offers lots of help and encouragement! This is a great book for anyone of any age who suffers with any kind of chronic (or recurring) pain. Understanding pain and pain cycles does not have to be complicated, misunderstood, undiagnosed or mistreated with addicting drugs... get this book and be proactive about understanding and getting productive help with managing and yes, even learning how to put an end to pain cycles. This book does not offer a magic cure but it does offer a pathway for understanding our human brain's pain response and how we can influence our own pain response management and find healthcare providers to help us.

What what I needed
This book was referred to a Physical Therapist by her patient, and then she referred it to me. After I'm done reading it, I'll pass it on to a friend that also has a recent injury. Doctors don't always tell us everything, nor do they always have the time to go into such detail. Not everyone wants to know but then there are some of us that do. I've just started reading this and am already impressed!
