The very bottom of the lift is wider than my older lift,my previous one would poke out at the bottom of the base a couple of inches.This one instead is flush with the base, but its lowest setting is then too high sometimes.otherwise good product

A great replacement for my office chair gas lift that had lost its compression. This raises the chair higher than the original and gives the chair perfect posture for me. In that respect it is better than the original gas lift. Longevity remains to be seen.

Saved me a lot of money for a new chair, losing 1 star as The dimensions are off by just a millimetre or so, some elbow grease and few solid taps with a mallet done the trick, be patient..

Easy to fit (just needs a heavy hammer to persuade the old lift to come out) ,and seems very robust

Bought a gaming chair that didn't go high enough to stop me from leaning on my forearms. Replaced stock gas cylinder with this, and voila, perfect height and with room for more. Few months on and it has yet to lose it's pressure (touch wood).Side note, I had to (very carefully) hammer the base of the chair to get the old gas cylinder off so maybe watch a YT video before attempting the same.

Easy to fit and transformed my chair

Thsi gas lift is OK, does the job and will replace the one that's failing on your office chair .And it's easy to install ....BUT .... removing the old gas lift can be a major operation. The old gas lift may well need powerful forces to remove it. I had to use a 1 ton car hydraulic jack to move mine ( top end under the seat and bottom end of the jack on the metal spider at the base . In the end it took a Chinese lump hammer to separate the old gas lift from the chair base. My advice is - be prepared to write-off the chair - and if you successfully remove the old gas lift then grease the outside of the new one - top and bottom - before you install it. That way the next time you need to remew the gas strut it should separate more easily.

I was looking at getting a new chair simply due to the gas cylinder allowing the chair to sink after a few minutes. I wasn't sure about replacing the cylinder until I looked into it and found most cyilnders are the same diameter. So, what the hell, I got this one and replaced the knackered one. It took a few decent blows with a rubber mallet to dislodge the old one from the base but overall it took 15 minutes to disassemble the chair, replace the cylinder and then reassemble the chair. Now it's as good as it ever was. Highly recommended product and as usual, speedy delivery from Amazon. Got to give this 5 stars.
