Great value for money
I bought this laptop a couple of months back at a reduced price thanks to an Amazon Prime deal, but compared with most of the other machines on offer, it would still have been good value for money at full price. I wanted a laptop with a reasonably good sized SSD (this has 512 GB) ,a generous amount of RAM (16 GB in this case), and a 16" screen, and this was one of relatively few that offered all three - and at a price lower than many less well specified machines. It also seemed to be generally well liked by previous reviewers.I bought this laptop both for home use and to take into work (a 20 minute walk for me), and it's proved light enough for the latter (though you know you're carrying something a bit hefty) and fast enough to be my machine of preference at home unless I need the larger screen size and/or better sound quality of my far slower (and now getting elderly) all-in-one.At home I mostly use this laptop with a mouse and keyboard plugged in (the latter because I happened upon an old keyboard I had that I thought I may as well put to use). The laptop's own keyboard seems well-designed, and includes a dedicated numeric keyboard along with all the keys you'd expect to find on a full-size keyboard, although some of them (such as End and Ins) require the function key to be used in combination. I regard this as good compromise to squeeze maximum functionality into relatively limited space. When I do use the laptop's own keyboard I find it absolutely fine. The ASUS was a breeze to set up and so far has proved fast and reliable in use. I nearly always use it plugged into a power socket (without necessarily having the power turned on until I need it), so battery life hasn't been an issue, but when the power isn't switched on the battery does seem to deplete quite fast. That may be because of what I'm doing on the machine, since I've encountered the same thing on previous portables.Overall, I'm very pleased with this laptop.

Core I5 16 Gb Ram
I have to say that I am very impressed with this laptop. In 10 years of owning laptops this one is the best so far. In comparison to my last laptop a 5 year old ACER Core I5 with 8 Gb of Ram. This one is miles better. It starts lightning quick as fast as my work laptop (A 2021 MS Surface Pro Core I7 16Gb ram Win 10.), if not faster. Whether this is to do with the SSD or Windows 11, I'm not too sure. The screen is fine with no issues found so far. Which is a significant improvement over the ACER which had difficulty if you were watching a movie or programme set at night. As someone whose eyesight has seen better days that was important to me. I tend to use my laptop as a desktop in a dock and it doesn't move very much. So I'm not overly concerned about size and weight, although it doesn't seem that bad in either aspect. It has a backlit keyboard, not something I need, but if it's important to you, then make sure you go for this spec. As by the look of the comments, some of basic spec machines don't have it.To sum up if you are just looking for a general use laptop that performs well, then you can't go wrong with this one. If you are looking for a Macbook replacement or a superlight travel friendly status symbol, then look elsewhere and prepare to spend a lot more cash.

Good value on Prime Day deal
This was ordered on a Prime Day deal, which gave a £120 discount. The price paid was £429.99, which is good value for an i5 laptop with Windows 11 Home, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.Unlike an older Vivobook that we have, this Asus feels cheap, the case lid on the old one is metal, this is thin plastic. Like the older Vivobook, the charger socket is tiny and very flimsy. With the older Vivobook, when you opened the lid, the lower edge of the lid raises the rear of the laptop giving a slightly better keyboard position, which can also stop the laptop sliding down your thighs by resting against your knees… unfortunately this Asus doesn’t include this really useful idea. The backlit keyboard is potentially useful, but isn’t very well lit. The LEDs shine around the edge of the keys but not much through them.Like most laptops (and desktops), it comes preloaded with junk software, McAfee anti virus isn’t something I want, neither is Office 365, TikTok, or anything else that Asus push on the buyer. Fortunately they are straightforward to remove.Setting up Windows 11 Home unfortunately requires a Microsoft account, you can use any old email address, but unlike Windows 10 you cannot use the laptop without first creating a M/S account. This is not the fault of Asus, but big brother at Microsoft.Overall a fast booting and easy to use laptop that is good value when on offer, I wouldn’t pay full price for one though.

great value but battery doesnt last
overall it is a very good laptop for the price but the battery doesnt last since the components are power hungry, may not be ideal for students who cant charge during class as on a single charge it will last me 3-4h with wifi on and brightness turned up

Solid family laptop
My parents have been using an ancient laptop for years but since their retirement they have been taking courses to expand their online capabilities. Their old laptop for checking death notices and e-mails wasn't cutting it anymore and was slow as a snail.Having purchased an asus as a school laptop for a nephew and his positive experience I proceeded to get this one for them. This Asus laptop was a revelation for them. The speed of the SSD blew their minds. As did how quiet it is. Straight out of the box, it's a nice size, sleek design and feels sturdy. They have been happily attending their MS office course at the community center with it, become daily web surfers, set up social media to contact family, watching films, mass and even begun dabbling in playing games online with their grandkids. Starting to get them comfortable with online bills and shopping next. A fantastic laptop for all daily use.

motherboard failed
lasted 2 years before the mother board failed so luckier than some others but no less disappointed. Same old give us £45 to look at it before we make an uneconomical repair

Good laptop
Happy with this laptop. Perhaps the lit up keys are not as bright as they could be. But a gimmick I'd say.Lightweight. Big keys.
