Stands above Most Professional Name Brands you pay 10x more for
1st. My Background: A retired Electronics Engineering Professor, and a Professional Photographer/Videographer/Video Engineer doing Weddings and Commercials for Individuals/Companies and Organizations of many types.Review of PTX-400 (8 Channel) Professional Mixer:I was more impressed than I expected, and used it 2 days after delivery on a video/photo shoot, that included music for dance, 4 different mics for business announcements etc. This device, as an audio Mixer, can stand on its own performance abilities. I will not mention other Professional brands by name, to be fair, but this device and all functions do exactly as I expected and beyond. All effects, providing you know how to mix, do an excellent job performance and, to me most important, they do not over perform or provide additional paths for the other effects to interfere with the overall effects I have intended. Many of the OLD names in mixers, which still haven't provided for built in abilities, for Bluetooth, PC connections allowing for edit (especially at faster USB Connects), recording, and other functions of control, will cost you at least 10x more than this mixer without doing any appreciated improvements.Be sure to follow recommendations, like unbalanced cable length limits and others, and you will get a excellent quality sound for a much smaller $$ cost. Keep in mind, this is an electronic mixer not an analog mixer like most of the Brand Name OLDer (Here OLDer is referring more toward analog than age) mixers on the market. I cannot speak for longevity yet, however, if the components and connections hold in their responsibilities, I do not see any reason there should be any issues. Again, this is an Electronic device, so don't throw it around like the Older Analog type systems. I have not tested many of the insertions as of yet, but this is a simple process so I do not foresee that any issues should arise. If you are a beginner, or a Professional, in need to control audio for any reason, I would give this device a try (By a little bigger than you think you need). The company appears to be growing at a rapid pace, I believe therefore must be doing their best in quality/support/responses to any issues, which will certainly arise, to keep up that growth. Always remember, (1.5% to 3%) of all electrical/electronic equipment will have failures after manufacture. If you are part of that 1.5-->3% then please let all of us know of their ability to satisfy you and repair the equipment in a proper, responsible quality and time frame.

This is a great little mixer with a really resonable price !
I really like the full functionality of this mixer ! As an older sound tech, I originally purchased this unit to beused as a sub-mixer unit. However, once I realized all it's great onboard features, there is no reason this unit couldn't be used as a stand alone main mixer ! I am really impressed and happy so far with this unit as it fills my needs perfectly !

GREAT UNTIL IT BROKE - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE
I bought this unit 11 months ago & up until a week ago it's been fantastic. It's got more features than our previous mixing board and I love that all 6 of my mics plus my phone & laptop can be plugged into individual ports instead of just 1 cable from the back of the mic unit to the mixer. Fast forward to last week - it stopped working & we had to get our daughter to bring us our back up unit. We're pretty sure it's a loose connector that should be repairable - 2 of the ports stopped working & we had distortion with our speakers (same problem we had with our previous mixer which was repaired & works great now as our back up unit). Phenyx doesn't do repairs; that's fine, their choice. They offered me a $50 gift card to be used in their store since they no longer sell my unit & can't replace it. I explained that the manufacturer warranty requires them to repair, replace, or provide a full refund. They offered me a "full refund" of $73 (what my credit card was charged because the rest came off my gift card balance). I sent them a screenshot of the payment details so they could see that I paid $254.38. They countered with an offer of a different unit. The unit they offered is $110 less than mine & is not sufficient for my needs. I reiterated that in the absence of a comparable replacement, they are obligated to refund me for the full purchase price. I'm not confident that they will pay. I'll just let the warranty run out because I purchased an extended 3 yr warranty from Asurion & I know they will be able to make this right. We were VERY pleased with the service we received from Asurion with our original mixer when it broke. While I will eventually have my Phenyx back & working again, I'm very disappointed that trying to get them to understand let alone honour their own warranty is like pulling teeth. We get amazing sound quality from this unit & it has some great features, but be forewarned that if you purchase a Phenyx & have issues while it's still under their warranty, you'll have a bit of a battle on your hands getting appropriate compensation. And ALWAYS spend extra for the Asurion extended warranty - it is definitely the way to go. I give Asurion full stars! We purchase the extended warranty for all our DJ equipment.

Great for Beginners on a Budget
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this mixer. You'll usually pay at least $500 for an 8 XLR input mixing board but this one cost less than half of that. The preamps punch above their price point, especially if you use them direct via the insert output. If Phenyx Pro releases an affordable (under $200) 8 channel XLR to ADAT unit, I would scoop it up.Digital effects were also better than I anticipated. While certainly not top shelf quality, they get the job done.Bluetooth quality was excellent but the big disappointment was the USB recording. It's low bitrate and only for use in case of "emergencies". USB playback was as good if not better than Bluetooth quality. It's a bit tricky to get it working though, but tech support was quick to help me out with that.Build quality was about what I would expect for a product at this price point. Sturdy but not perfect. I do like the way it looks and the angled top half tilt helps with ergonomics. The equalizers are OK...better than nothing. Cut quality is better than boost quality.
