INNOVATIVE, RESPONSIVE SOUND WITH TOUGH DURABILITY
Decided to try this "reverse dot" concept (reinforcement/sound modifier) center round area is factory molded to the underside of the head. I was a little concerned that it might sound a little too "heavy or dead" with the bottom dot, but it turns out as clean, crisp, and responsive as a standard single ply frosted snare batter. It mounted and tuned up very well, on a custom-enameled chrome steel shell. The sound(s) that can be produced with it vary from a slightly dampened sound in the center, to a more "ring/echo", hitting it about 2/3 the radius from center. Rim-shots work great, as does "straddling" a stick from tip-on-head to knocking on the rim. I paired it with a thin Evans Clear 300 Snare-Side head for added response and dynamic response, which I prefer. I'm looking forward to hearing how the head sounds in a venue, 'un-mic'd'. Would definitely recommend this product as a good choice from one of Evans' many variations available.

WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER
Assuming your shells and lugs are true, it's all about the hoops and heads. And here, outside of obviously too loose or tight to choke point, it's all pretty much subjective. There's a combined sound and feel you're looking for and sometimes it's a long road that gets travelled to find it. Hopefully, you get lucky and the trip doesn't get too long and/or expensive. Reading reviews can be helpful but, again, I can only tell you what worked for me.Drum: Tama Starphonic 1mm steel shell, 13 x 7, used, (great drum, by the way. worth every penny.)Head at purchase: Remo Powerstroke, clear - worn out, flat and generally lame IMOGo to snare head tried: Evans Genera Dry HD - at any tightness it choked the poor old Tama to death!Second try: Evans EC Reverse Dot - Bingo! Great rebound, sensitivity and shotgun pop, too!It should be noted: I tried this EC on both a Pearl, Limited Edition, 13 x 7 chrome over steel drum and a Tama SLP G-Maple, 13-ply, 13 x 7 with truly lack luster results. However, the Genera worked great on these two. (Go figure.)Best of luck.

I will be switching all of my snare drums to this head--the search is over.
I will be switching ALL of my snare drums to this head. Why?the sound is PERFECT!the tuning is PERFECT!Produces rich VOLUME for brushes that will last for the life of the head.It is NOT CLEAR! It is NOT WHITE! It is a lovely OPAQUE FROST!By far, it is the most beautiful head I have ever seen and it is a perfect match for the Ludwig Super Phonic aluminum alloy shell as oppose to ugly old white, white, white, or a big ugly black black dot on white. The silver center dot has a really slick, brushed 21st century metal look to it and...well... IT'S JUST GOT CLASS! It DOES NOT have a cheesy sprayed on "ruff-coat" finish but the surface is ETCHED (like the Evans jazz head) for brush use...VERY easy to clean any of that dark residue you get from wire brushes.Included a shot next to my 5 1/2 Millennium snare that has a Remo Renaissance head.I use a 200 or 300 clear on the snare side and Pure Sound snares.Sorry Remo...Evans just ate your lunch.

It’s a cracker
Bought this head because of the price. I usually use Evans Genera dry on my snares. Put this on a Gretsch at club 14/5.5 mahogany. It brings out the drums growl better than the dry, is very loud. This head has a wider spectrum, more tonal, in a good way. I find certain drums like this head more than others, but none dislike it. Great for the value, I’ll be buying more of these

Great sound , durable and price is great
I’ve used a lot of heads in my time and have tried many of them until I found one recommended by another drummer which is this one . Sound is slightly better than most and have it in my 1966 Ludwig snare. Important to replace the bottom resonant head also to get the most and shuttle the overtones . Lasts quite awhile , I play almost everyday and gig and doesn’t need changing but I change every 6 months no matter what and give my ok’d one away that is still good . I use remo pinstripe for bottoms that is two ply.

HOLY SMOKES!! IT IS A GAME (tone) CHANGER!
I'm a guitar player first, but I have a Tama Superstar Classic kit (100 birch) that we jam on, and I have been a little disappointed in the kick sound when jamming live in the studio. I originally bought this EMAD system for a cheap starter kit that my son and I first learned on over the last year. I was blown away by the sound difference it made on the cheap kit! It had a focused, warm thump, which sounds like a recorded bass drum on a well-produced track. The only thing is, that it was a live sound coming from the instrument, not the post production sounds! WOW WOW WOW.... lolNow, put it on the Tama kick, and I am still emotional about the sound and playability that it has introduced to my finicky Tama bass drum. I think I may have cried a bit when I tuned it up and listened to it from the front while my 13 year old was grooving!(happy tears!). I have to say that I was surprised by how much it changed the Tama sound of the bass. I am an EMAD disciple now, Evans! Well done and well received by this musical household!

Es un parche muy duradero y muy versátil, creo que sirve mucho para rock y pop pero sin dudas se puede utilizar en cualquier género, es muy fácil de afinar y tiene un acabado muy vistoso, recomendado.
