Q: Will this work to do hinge repair? I'm a newbie at this but have two ancient Richard Scarry books whose inside cover had detached from the spine

I worked in a public library for years and repaired many worn books. Use sparingly, some flexible glue inside the spine and let dry. Cut a length of this book tape about 1/2 inch past the length of the book. I'm guessing by the 2" size you got, the books are fairly thin and not in a library binding. Eyeball about half the width of the tape, fasten down to the front of the book... rub out till smooth. Smooth the tape over the spine as you turn the book to the back....fasten and rub out until it's smooth. The extra length of the tape is cut so as to have a "tab" of tape folded over to the inside of the cover on front and back. If the spine space allows, fold down the center portion and smooth out. If the book is very thin, just clip off and smooth down the edges. Hope this helps.

Q: What's difference between cloth book binding tape and cloth gaffers tape? (not duct tape, look up gaffers tape if you don't know what it is)

I don’t have any gaff tape to do a side by side comparison, but gaffer’s tape seems to me to be a bit stickier from what I remember. If you have gaff tape, it’d totally work for book binding.

It is 2 11/16 inches, just short of 2.75"
