Howard Leight QD30 Quiet Reusable Earplugs, Orange, 100 per Box

Not as pictured. What arrived was a box filled with orange earplug pairs packed in small plastic bags, with a thin plastic cord connecting them. These are also sold, but I wanted the ones with no cord.Plus, the bean counters have taken over design of these normally excellent earplugs and they are now smaller and the internal pliable/soft orange post has been replaced with a blue one that is more rigid. When you wear these while sleeping on your side, the rigid post can dig into your ear canal and be uncomfortable, especially now that the plug unit isn't as thick.I'm going to keep these; I found I could cut off the cord on each plug and reduce the size of the post (by about 1/8 inch; it can be cut easily with a pair of office scissors). They now fit and are comfortable, although I miss the slightly larger plug size.Just one tip - I have found that they work better if you moisten the plug just slightly. They slide right in and a seal is created that truly blocks out the sound. If you don't do this, they are harder to insert and are definitely not as effective at blocking out the sound.Too bad they don't make them the way they used to, with a larger plug and the orange, more pliable post.
