A stove that is as good as the more expensive versions!
Bought this for a camping trip that I and a friend are in the planning stages of..... So as part of the planning we have been trying this stove on various fuels. Please feel free to experiment yourselves and our experiments are just that, our experiments. We are in no way advising you to use the fuels we have tried and if you do use the fuels we have tried then you do so entirely at your own risk. We did all our trials outside with the correct fire extinguisher for flammable liquids at hand, we are both qualified on firefighting and the use of fire extinguishers. The stove was shielded and each fuel had a brand new clean fuel bottle to prevent cross contamination and the stove was cleaned and allowed to cool before each " new" fuel was tried. We conducted "our" experiments over a period of a week and in different weather conditions (not raining). We would also like to point out that we conducted our experiments almost at sea level and stoves/ fuels burn differently depending on the height of the land, barometric pressure, air temperature and humidity which can all have an effect on how well a stove/ fuel will burn. So this is just, basically, our test to see what fuel we can use should our preferred fuel ( gas canister) be unavailable to us. Then we thought that maybe our experiments might be of some use to you guys out there who may be thinking of buying the same stove for your camping trip.We had the following results;Pump diesel ( car diesel)- quite hard to get lit to heat up the delivery tube to help atomise the fuel for the heating stage before main burner was used, required several re-lights before delivery pipe was hot enough to give a good burn on main burner also required frequent pumping to prevent flameout/big yellow flames. very sooty, with a smell of diesel upon extinguishing of stove. Ditto Red farm diesel and kerosene.Petrol regular unleaded- easy to light for the first heating of the delivery pipe, burned well and gave a lot of heat with less soot than diesel but did leave a smell of petrol from first " heating stage" that faded during use and there was a faint smell after extinguishing the stove, less pumping required to maintain the steady " roar" and no flameouts/big yellow flames.Petrol super plus unleaded- same as for regular unleaded petrol but less pumping required and flame appeared hotter as it boiled a pan of water much faster, still had a faint petrol smell on initial burn that faded during main burner use and a faint smell after extinguishing.Coleman stove fuel- great burn easy to light, burned with a clean flame, same amount of pumping required as using petrol, no flameouts/ big yellow flames, only a slight smell noticed after extinguishing ( smelt slightly of white spirit)White Spirit- like diesel a bit hard to light for initial heating of delivery tube and frequent pumping a required to maintain steady " roar" and to prevent flameouts/big yellow flames, smell of white spirit on extinguishing stove.Methylated spirits- easy to light for initial heating of delivery tube and good clean burn on lighting main burner, faint smell of meths during burn and slightly stronger on extinguishing stove, slight soot, only main problem with meths was that we found it was very hard to see if it was actually lit on the heating stage as the flames were practically invisible! Ditto when main burner was lit but gave off a lot of heat and boiled a pan of hot water about as fast as it did when running on petrol.Zippo lighter fuel- great burn, easy to light, burns as good as Colman fuel with hardly any soot and no real smell whilst burning but a slight smell upon extinguishing stove.Paraffin behaved the same as diesel. Then remberimg past experiments when we had run out of lighter fuel for our zippos we tried some other favourites of ours!Aftershave- lit well, hard to see flame on heating stage, main burner lit with a roar but a strong smell of aftershave and frequent pumping required to maintain the heat.... Very strong smell after extinguishing stove ( Old Spice burns better and smells better, to my nose anyway, than Brute!)Whiskey and other spirits- Didn't end up trying as not only were we out of clean fuel bottles but the "wee dram" turned into a better idea than trying to burn it!Obviously there are other flammable liquids available but the above were what we could buy locally and with out trips to the city..... We will try at a later date, pre-mixed fuel for chainsaws, spirits like whiskey, vodka, gin, rum etc but we can't really think of any situation where we couldn't get any petrol and had to resort to burning spirits, maybe if we were shipwrecked off a boat that was transporting whiskey but even then we probably would'nt burn it!!!Hope the above is of some help to you, We're probably going to be either using a gas bottle or if they are not available we will be using petrol and preferably super plus unleaded as we have the theory that if it's better for our cars ( we do go further with a tank of it than we do on regular gas ) then it's going to be better in our stove too ( maybe less cleaning?)Right that's it. Happy camping everyone.

Cheap and cheerful...
This stove is a good cheap alternative to a lot of the more pricey models out there. I marked it down because there are some cosmetic issues with the build quality. Burrs and blisters in the materials as well as being generally a cheap product. Overall I think this is a stove that'll serve me well for the next few years...

Excellent value for the money
Does not run on pure diesel or paraffin only 30 percent petrol and 70 percent diesel / paraffin. Very loud though, boils water in minutes. Excellent value for the money

gutes Backupsystem
