Difficult to find an alternative to the petrol/chemical based fire lighters.Take a little longer to light from a match, but when going have a good long flame.

Love this stuff. My husband things I can start a fire like a girl scout. I can’t. I use these things. I hide them on the shelf so he doesn’t know.

I bought the 5lb box and it contains approximately 150 pieces that are roughly 1/2" x 1/2" x 9". The pieces are all good fatwood and contain lots of resin. I carry these as fire starters when backpacking. Scrape some fine shavings off the stick and it takes sparks from a firesteel very easily. A single stick can be used to start many fires, or you can just leave the entire stick in the fire to get it going more easily. I highly recommend this product.
