I bought this for my boiler room where I have a furnace, a gas powered dryer, and a hot water tank.Smoke detector is important but I believe carbon monoxide detector is just as important, if not more, as it can be a silent killer that you should not ignore.WHAT I LIKE:[+] It's a smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, 2 in 1.[+] The included battery lasts 10 years![+] Can be placed in anywhere as it does not need to be plugged into outlet[+] Comes with mounting bracket and screws[+] The unit activates itself when you mount on the bracket and has places to write down the date of installation[+] Loud beeps and alarm sound that you won't be able to ignore[+] Digital display of the reading and the battery level[+] Price is great for something that will protect you for 10 yearsWHAT I DON'T LIKE:[-] It would have been amazing if it can also detect a gas leak :)THE BOTTOM LINE:5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this for a boiler room or kitchen where you have the highest chance of smoke and/or carbon monoxide leak. DONT BUY -- DONT BUY -else you will regret if any fire hazard happen to your home. I bought this product 2 months back and installed which was easy to do, today I left some item unattended in my kitchen which caused a sever smoke in my house. but this alarm did not buzz even a single time. Its just waste product.Luckily we came back our house within 15 mins, and saw smoke in whole house and opened all windows and doors. Now my 1 month return period is also expired, I will talk to amazon so that at least such seller should be banned who are playing with people's safety.

Stick the holder on the wall, mark the three holes, drill, put in the inserts, put in the screws and then just stick the detector in there and twist. It comes on and tests itself automatically. If it lasts anywhere close to 10 years, I'll be happy. Tired of tracking down the source of the dog-terrifying warning beep and replacing batteries.If you put it on a wall, rather than the ceiling, you will want it to line up so the display is at the top, not over on one side or the other, which would look like crap. I found that if you put the word "device" -- from the imprinted sentence along the edge of the holder--at the exact bottom when you install the holder, then twist in the detector starting at about 10 o'clock, it will come out just right. Also, if you don't have a 6mm drill bit, a 13/64 works nicely. Or close to that, most likely.

If the carbon monoxide (CO) level is below 29 ppm, this monitor will falsely tell you that the CO level is *zero*. This is by design -- it only displays a number above zero once the CO level exceeds 30 ppm, which is pretty late.I bought this product because I wanted to monitor the CO level in real time. For example, when using the fireplace, I wanted to know if CO was leaking into the room from the beginning. If you are trying to monitor CO in real time, this is the wrong product (I now use the Sensorcon monitor instead). If you do not want to monitor CO, there is no reason to pay extra for the LCD screen.

These “detectors “ don’t detect anything. When initially installed you will hear the beep, but once smoke enters the room, they do not activate. My house almost burned down today and not ONE of these alarms went off.I hate to think if it were are CO2 issue overnight when sleeping. I wouldn’t be alive to write the review.Amazon has been warned- take these off your site. They are a false and dangerous sense of security that does not properly work.
