Q: Someone commented the disc diameter is 7in. Are the purple sliders the same? I am asking because the reviews are not as high & they are $2 cheaper.

The purple discs are also 7" diameter and the quality, for me, has been excellent. They slide like a dream on hard surfaces and carpet. 

Q: How long do they last? Will they begin to tear from use?

I've had mine for almost 4 years, and the only wear has been from when my dog saw them on the floor (my fault) and thought they were a toy. She tore some of the fabric loose from the padding. Since them I use this set exclusively on carpeting and have seen no further damage. I now have another set I use when on hardwood flooring and three years later they still look almost brand new. Point is, they are incredibly durable!
