Great price, fairly effective and easy to install
I was able to install it myself, but it was really hard to get the highest portions in place - I’m short and have no strength above my head. So i had a 91” piece and was trying to hold it straight on the door frame above me AND hold a nail in place AND hammer it in - not easy. All i needed was one person to hold it for me to get it started, but thats not exactly something i have access to. I needed up getting it placed with the nails 1/2 driven, and then adjusted the placement and nails afterwards. So i have a lot more holes in the door frame than what would be ideal, but hey, the thing is up, and it is keeping the heat in and the cold out pretty darn well.It did have places in the roll that were a little warped... when i measured it the longer flap would be sticking up in waves. This doesn’t seem to affect the functionality once the seal is placed, just kind of annoying. I think this can be attributed to the stretching capability of this seal, which is great in most cases but was definitely a little annoying when i went back to do my readjustment. Because this will stretch, but wont ‘stretch back,’ so to speak, to maintain tension. It stays stretched out once you stretch it.

It works
This item seems to work well. No directions so it was a try fit which way worked best. The roofing nails too big so used smaller ones I had on hand. It tends to stretch a bit so many nails. Its seems to be good thick plyable rubber so hopefully it will last. The item arrived quickly. I would suggest smaller head nails and directions. The video advised to hang it with door open but i found it best to have the door closed so to snuggly fit the gasket up to it. My garage door is dented in a couple places but could still get a snug fit. My garage door has a nice wood trim around it but there was a small gap that allowed air and noise so this was just enough to make a good seal. I did notice less rumbling sounds of the garage door as it opens and closes. My purpose in buying this was to be a sound barrier first insulation second. I have a styrofoam kit on order to do the inside of door. Our neighbors are not nice about their music or fireworks so im hoping to continue to get my home sound proofed. The garage which is always opened into the home and kitchen seems alittle quieter now.

This stuff is great!
I had this product on the door for over a decade, I only had to replace it because I re-did the trim and the dimensions changed, otherwise the old stuff would have been fine to re-use. It is very durable and long lasting. The old stuff came with nice white painted roofing nails, which I used, but now the nails provided are galvanized and look bad so I did not use them. I used the screws pictured, purchased at Menard's, they work much better. The strip needs no sealant to the door trim, the pressure from the door forces it into the trim and effects a seal that way, the fasteners just hold it in place, so don't get the idea of caulking it to the trim, that is totally unnecessary. You have to set it in place so it puts light pressure on the door to get a seal, but not too much or the door might hang up and not close completely. The door itself also must have its track adjusted so it follows the door opening accurately. A little careful tweaking gets it right. Look at the bottom seal of the door where it sits on the concrete and make sure it sits the same as before the strips were installed, if you see daylight where there wasn't any before, then the strip pressure is hanging up the door. You don't need to miter the corners, just butt the top strip ends to the door trim and butt the side strip ends to the top strip, carve a contour in the ends of the side strips with scissors to match the profile of the top strip.

M-D garage door weather seal
Other reviewers described problems installing this and keeping it straight, but I think the trick is to slightly stretch it when it's tacked down with the first nail. Not a lot but a little, just enough to straighten it out, then put in the second nail, then stretch it a little again, and so on. I ended up with a very straight installation that looks good and seals very well. This is a heavy duty vinyl that will last many, many years and has just the right shape. Plus my doors open and close more quietly now since the weather stripping helps smooth out the door movement. And it took latex paint with no problem.

Can "Gap" Away From Surface Between Nails
They provide plenty of nails. I used one every about every 6-7 inches and noticed the strip in between was slightly gapping away from the surface. So I used a tube of adhesive caulk in addition to the nails and that solved that problem, even if it did double the install time. I noticed the old original strip had been applied with adhesive caulk as well, BTW. Once installed, the edge that contacts the door made a great seal and the strip was easily painted with exterior latex paint. Seals tight and looks great.

love this product
love this product. spent $18 for this product, $4 of 3 (1.5 x 0.5 x 96 inch) wood at home depot, with extra hardware laying around in my garage. i spent a total $22 instead of paying $36 for that vinyl at home depot at $9 for 9ft long garage door seal. basically what i did 1st was cut the wood to length, drill holes every 12 inch and countersink them too, and paint them to the color of my house trim. 2nd I use a heat gun to straighten the vinyl since the product comes in rolled up there is a lot of bend and unevenness. 3rd i used my 18 gauge nailer and nail in the vinyl into the wood ( you could use caulking in between the wood and vinyl for a better seal). 4th i predrill some screws into the wood for a easier way to screw the wood onto the side of the garage opening. i did the top seal and then the sides after. had to cut a 45 degree to fit the sides with the top ones. after that you can cover/caulk and paint for a finish look. here are some pics. its best to do it this way than the direction that is provided. this way makes your garage looks cleaner and professionally done.

Cold Air Blowing in around the door is stopped and I can use a heater in the garage.
I was surprised it was so narrow, (1 1/2 inches) and almost started to fasten the nails in the wrong side.(the nails go in the 1/2 inch side) I started to use the nails provided, but found it hard to keep the rubber from bunching and twisting, and keeping it straight. I had a bunch of 1 Inch Stainless Steel screws, with kind of a round decorative head, so I drilled small hole 6 inches apart in the rubber (in the center of the 1/2 inch side) It was then very easy to control the way the rubber laid down and keep some tension on it.In the end, it works fine and looks smooth and professional. My Wife said it looks perfect ! . Also with screws it will be easy to remove and replace.

Works perfectly
Shipping was a little slow because it’s oversized but it arrived in perfect condition just in time for the cold weather. Was easy to install with some self tapping hex screws, makes a perfect seal.Keep in mind this is one single 7 foot length only, it can be used top or sides. This was about 1/2 the price of Home Depot for the exact item.
