Perfect Books for Little Ones
The Turkeybird (My son's opinion, age 3) Takes Over: "Let me just take the reigns while Littlebug goes off to chew on some other book. I'm not sure exactly why my parents thought that these books would be more appropriate for Littlebug(my daughter, age 1), but they were wrong. She received them this Christmas and no sooner had she received them did she toss them to the side for a more flashy glowing singing worm thing. In my opinion, she's made a grievous mistake. These books will soon become classics, as anyone with any taste will obviously see upon their first reading."Now, I'm not going to say that Littlebug doesn't have any good taste (she must, she likes my "That's Not My Truck" book), it just so happens that in this particular case she has fallen a bit short. In fact, I think she may have fallen asleep."But that's besides the point! These books have everything! From skateboarding to playing with dad to going to school and even cleaning up my room (which believe it or not, I like to do). Just incredible books with wonderful fun friends I'm sure you'll enjoy. Pea, Hoot and Oink are some of the best characters in modern literature and you would be just silly not to pick these up!"Mom's Two Cents: "When the Turkeybird speaks, he speaks. I won't argue one bit. We judged a book by it's cover so to say and by so doing gave the wrong book to the wrong child. That's not to say that Littlebug won't enjoy these in a year or so from now, because I'm pretty sure she will, she just doesn't today."He's right though, these are great books! For me as well as for the kids. I honestly LOVE reading these aloud to The Turkeybird. They're so fun and entertaining, but also have a twist of teaching to them. Each book focuses on a different point of a child's life of learning, be it sleeping, what to eat or cleaning up. Each one is taught in such a way that it makes each task seem like the enjoyable part of the day and not the chore to be completed. The illustrations are simple and beautiful. And overall wonderful books, great for the whole family. (I think I'd even read them without children.)"The1stdaughter Recommends: Age 3 and older, boys and girls alike will love these delightful stories.

My son's favorite & fun for adults too
I bought this set after hearing Little Pea at the library - I thought it was such a cute book & I immediately came home & looked it up. I'm glad I decided to buy the whole set because my son (2 1/2) absolutely LOVES these books! And has since he was about 18 months old. Little Oink was actually once of the 1st books he specifically requested to read - I asked him what he wanted to read one night & he said "piggy". A year later he still frequently says "I wanna read piggy". It's a good thing that I also enjoy these books as well because he requests them A LOT!Little Pea is a pea who has to eat candy for dinner each night & he hates it!Little Oink is a pig whose parents want him to make a mess but he just wants to be clean & tidy.Little Hoot is an owl who just wants to go to bed but his parents make him stay up and play. They are all basically the same story, but with different characters & different "problems", but despite the repition, they are very cute & I doubt any young child is going to be bothered by that anyway. They're all pretty short, the illustrations are really nice & kind of fun (there's lots of fun little details that my son likes to point out to me as we read - like the different animals hiding in the background), & the board books are nice & sturdy. Also another thing I love about these books is that each story has some sort of counting involved & Little Pea also lists the days of the week. My son enjoys counting along with me or by himself on those pages so I feel like that's an added bonus. All around, I just really enjoy these books & I'm very glad I bought them.

Cutest books ever!
We originally had just the little pea book but after looking online for that one for my niece I noticed there were 2 others. Perfect for my daughter.

Perfect
My daughter loved these books in kindergarten, so we gave her a new boxed set for Christmas (she’s a junior in high school now), and she loved them! Very nostalgic for her.

Better for pre-schoolers than toddlers
My daughter just turned 2 and she isn't interested in these books. I think the story might be too long for her. She likes book with pictures and colors to burst on the page with just a few words. These books have a white background with the main character (pea, owl, pig) small and more outlined rather than completely colored in. Also, there are a lot of words, I think the story is just too long for her.The stories are cute and maybe when she is older she will like them which is why I rated it 3 stars.Update: My daughter loved the books at 4. She would say, "Candy is what you have to eat when you're a pea" I guess when she wanted candy? I'm actually not sure why because she's 8 now and too old for these. I didn't like that the parent peas forced the baby pea to eat his dinner to get dessert but I guess a lot of parents do that. Studies prove that forcing children to eat one thing to get rewarded with something else actually increases hatred of that thing and increases desire of the something else. I was worried that the owl book was going to encourage my daughter to delay going to bed but I didn't really have a problem with that.I do see where I'm just criticizing it but I think in the end my fears where overblown. My daughter liked it and that was enough.

Great Book
My son loves this book series, especially "Little Pea." You will laugh together reading these. They are also great for teaching your little one to eat his/her vegetables, go to bed, and clean his/her room! I also love that this particular set of books come in board book style.

Very well read!
We still read these and we have had this set for two years! Always a favorite to return to. My only complaint is that ALL of the main characters are BOYS. Is this completely necessary? I don't think so. But the drawings are fantastic, the stories cute and simple. My kid loves them.
