Works about as expected; 350 watts; 2.5 minute warmup
While not a high end de-soldering station, I will only need this every once in a while. The first time I used it, the heating element side produced smoke which seems to have come from a coating. I took it outside and let it cook everything off for about 15 minutes and that seems to have done the trick. It includes a cleaning rod, other tips and a little bit of wick for good measure. My Kill-a-Watt shows about 350 watts pulled and takes about 2.5 minutes to melt solder. (I figure there is a bit more mass in there than a regular soldering iron hence the longer warm up time.)BT recommended

Trust in today's market place.
This performed just as it said it would. Easy to hold. Easy to operate. Easy to clean. I received it right on time. Great product. Great price . Great service. Can not say enough about product, supplier, and Amazon. Trustworthy from beginning to end. Thank you .

Got the job done for me
Wow! This thing appears to be pretty great. As a hobbyist, I have struggled with desoldering parts from PCBs, but have had reasonably good success with a desoldering pump and the right brand of desoldering braid (Superwick!). But there is one PCB with extra small pad holes that I have been unable to conquer, which is why I decided to give this product a try. It has 6 bad sounding oscillators that I wanted to swap out. I've spent hours struggling with these in the past with no luck, but this heated desoldering pump got the job done in 20 minutes.Negatives? There is no temperature adjustment, and no on/off switch. And I've only used it once so far. If you are hoping to use this to poach loads of parts off of old PCBs, I don't know how well it would hold up to heavy use.

great replacement iron, could use a little higher top heat
My old Tenma was showing its age and I decided to get a new iron. This one is pretty high-tech compared to my old one, which has a big base and a knob to adjust the temp on. This new unit is lightweight and has a digital screen to show the current and target temp. Hold down a button and it turns on. Press the up and down to adjust the goal temp. After a few sec it switches back to displaying live temp, and you can see it quickly rise and stop when it hits the goal. This is my first time owning a soldering iron with a digital readout.I found I do have to wait 20-30 sec for the actual temp on the tip to stabilize, so there's some inertia in the heat. It also can struggle on larger items because it takes 15-20 sec to catch up the heat on large items. So when I turn it on to use it, I set the temp, it comes up and stops, and I have to give it another 15 sec before it will melt solder, as I wait for the heat to get to the end of the tip. Also I keep needing to tighten the twist on the bottom of the iron that holds the tip because it keeps coming unscrewed. I suppose that's the heating and cooling that keeps loosening it but I don't want to crank it hard and break it. My old iron has this issue (less frequently) too, so I suppose I just need to give it a harder twist.Depending on what I'm working on, I periodically need to adjust my temps so I'm not cooking small partsor taking forever to solder larger ones, so that ends up with a lot of button pressing. With a knob I'm not really concerned about wear and tear, but these push buttons do leave me wondering if I'm going to eventually wear them out like I've seen happen with push button adjustments on other devices I own.So I haven't decided yet if this is an improvement over my old iron or not. It does have an "auto shutoff" feature though which is nice. Unlike my old iron, it doesn't have any bright lights on it to remind you that it's on, but it will sense when you haven't handled it in several minutes and will turn down the temp. It doesn't turn off completely though, which might be a better idea?

It'll work, but I'd choose a different one now.
It does alright when sucking solder off of pins. I does take a little bit to warm up, but that's expected. The main issue is that you're going to need a trashcan by you when using it. It spits out pieces of solder when you go to re-plunge. I've used this less than a week, and maybe a hundred pins. Likely less. Save your money and put it towards a better brand.
