good deal for the price
I bought these to finish covering the floor of my photo studio (approximately 17' x 10', and I've filled in gaps with some custom woodcuts). I use these and a different pair of tatami mats I had previously purchased at an organic shop for more than 2x the price. The more expensive tatami is definitely nicer to lay on: it has more of a perceivable "give" and also feels like more homogeneous of a material. On these tatami the most prominent observation is an underlayment that sounds like plastic sheeting between the grass and the straw layer (probably as a moisture barrier). Secondarily, it seems that the core material is not as even. But given that the price includes delivery, if you're not extremely sensitive to the function and only are using these for aesthetics as I am, I would say they're quite worth it and I'm happy to have this as an option.

great quality
ok - we hated our bed. had a mattress and a box spring hated it. My boyfriend has a herniated disk in his lower spine and read that Japanese mattress are the best for body support. he bought one of these in a twin size and was sleeping on the floor for years - well I wanted him back in the bed so I shoved out about $1000 for this whole set:Platform bed: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015VG0R0/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00GREAT quality, NOT particle board real wood real quality.2: Tatami mats: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WK745M/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00these were to most expensive part and they are truly heavy and made of great quality materials.2: 3 inch thick Japanese pads http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009EEMH3Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00We wanted extra soft but support so two was perfect.Comforter set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J3ODVK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00soooo warm, soft, pretty and great quality.we also have a 4 inch thick memory foam pad under the pads - we just had it around and figured we would use it.This whole set is amazing. AND the mattresses work great with regular queen size sheets. It looks like a real bed but so much better. We even take our mattress pad with us when we sleep over other places.ALSO: GREAT NOTE the bed is extremely quiet and sturdy. when someone rolls over gets up or jumps on it you can't hear anything or feel anything! its...again...amazing!

Pretty cool
So I got this for some random reason... can't really remember at this point. But it's pretty cool! The top of it is comfortable and smells nice. It seems to be pretty sturdy but there is some cardboard in it which isn't too noticeable, but when I saw it I somewhat questioned the build quality... Seems fine though.Anyway, nice floor mat to put below my Samurai swords and/or use as a platform for a bed(with a futon cushion) for any guests I might have.I'd buy another if I wanted to make into a queen size bed... :)

Not a Queen size Tatami.
Listed as a Queen Tatami. It is actually HALF of a Queen Tatami. Not a WHOLE Queen Tatami. Should have been called "HALF Queen Tatami" and not "Queen Tatami". Because it is not a Queen Tatami. The title was deceptive. Returned this monstrously heavy beast immediately.

Love it. Reminds me of a visit to Japan.
Great product. I bought two 28.5x78.7 inch Euro Fulls to replace my full sized bed. I have a herniated disc in my lower lumbar spine. However, my uncle recommended a very firm bed to replace my pillow-like bed, so I settled on these. They smell very nice, and feel amazing too. I would describe the smell as less pungent than a pile of dried, cut grass, but it also has the sweet smell of somewhat fresh hay. Almost like green tea at times too.The mats themselves are a little softer than the floor. They provide me with just the right firmness where I can sleep without back pain when I wake up.However, I do have a small complaint. The first mat came in perfect shape. The dents in the box dropped my heart a little, but the mat was in perfect condition. The second, however, was slightly off. It was even more dented than the first, but this time, when I took the mat out, I found that one of the corners was bent and that some of the straw on the mat was already torn. It's not much, but I'm afraid that the tear might grow larger overtime. As for my setup, I don't have a bed frame. The two mats are set on the floor, and I use a Japanese Futon mattress. A 20x30 inch buckwheat pillow completes the setup.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009EFA4U8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Looks like a floor, feels like a floor
Well it arrived here quickly and with no issues! So happy about that. But I've got one half of my queen sized foam pad on top of this tatami mat, and the other half laying on the floor and I've been toggling which side I sleep on every few days... And well ... I can't tell the difference. People write on here that there's a slight give, but I don't feel it. The key to a Japanese bed is having a good pad, not so much the mat.FYI for a mat I use a 4in memory foam topper that I got at Costco a few years back. I also have wooden floors, so I bet tile/concrete may be harder.
