One of my all time favourite books
Oh my word! This is one of my favourite books of all time. It was so amazing. If there was a book inside which I could live in, it would be this one. It was so good. I wish I could give this 10 stars. First things first, what I loved best about this book are characters. Dylan Singh Shekhawat...what do I say about him. He is so perfect (even with his imperfections). I love him to death. Where do they manufacture guys like these? I want one. Dylan is handsome, funny, intelligent...and a whole lot of nice adjectives I can't recall at the moment. Seriously, this guy is that good. And moreover, he knows how to be romantic. Writing a letter, dancing with the lady, grovelling...I am so jealous of Dabbu. Speaking of Dabbu, Debjani is adorable. I loved the romance and chemistry between Dylan and Debjani. The other romance I really loved was Satish and Eshwari's. They were such cool characters. Their friendship was amazing. I also enjoyed all the other characters. Anji and Anant, Dabbu's parents, Chachi, Dylan's parents, Dylan's brothers, Dylan's colleague...suffice to say, I loved everyone in this book. We also get a glimpse of Samar and Bonu as kids. They were so cute together. The other thing I loved was the setting. The story takes place in New Delhi in the 1980s, I believe. Another thing I loved was the use of Hinglish. The way Anuja Chauhan blends Hindi with English really works. I normally don't like it much when authors mix Hindi too much in the books. But, Anuja Chauhan makes it work beautifully. It actually enhances the story and makes the characters authentic. I love her writing. She is one of my favourite authors.I read this book in one sitting. Loved it so much. Highly recommend to all. It is vastly entertaining, romantic and hilarious.

Love it. Great little book
Love it. Great little book, little cliched hero-heroine roles but the supporting characters are fabulous. There was one line, by a very triumphant Bade Papaji that had me snorting in laughter at 2 am in the morning. The story is well told and all the characters stayed in my head, conversing in the living room of my head, for the next couple of weeks. I highly recommend reading it, light, airy and well told.

A light romp
I bought this on a recommendation of a friend - good move - and read it over one night. It's a fun, lighthearted romp through the world of Judge Laxmi Narayan Thakur, and his 5 daughters - named alphabetically. If you grew up hearing stories of post-emergency, pre-liberalisation India you'll relate to it instantly. In the background are larger themes - of the role of the state, corruption, the Sikh massacre of 1984 - which feels particularly poignant given all the talk of riots and accountability in India today.I don't mean this to sound too condescending, but unlike a lot of popular fiction in India today this book is well edited, and written in readable English.

A romantic comedy with twists! Perfect Combo
Anuja Chauhan writes a very fresh and funny novel, full of delightful and tender moments of romance between Debjani, the leader of losers protagonist and Dylan, the cynical, hot and intelligent love interest.A witty and funny novel that transported me to the glorious eighties. The novel reminds one of Pride and Prejudice at times, especially the fact that there were 5 Thakur girls, and also that Dylan is so much like Mr Darcy. The author has left no stone unturned in characterization. Delhi's people are showed in true form, and it warms your heart to read about them, and their (not-so) petty trials and tribulations. The author tells the tale of this crazy family in a hilarious manner which would make you laugh out loud. With hilarious situations and hilarious dialogues, it also holds a serious backdrop in between. I adore her characters, admire her wit and try to imitate the ease in her writing. The story effectively skirts the line between frothy chick-flick and political gameplay. There are generous splashing of Hin-glish that never sound pretentious or forced.Really enjoyed this very different narrative of romantic comedy with twists.

Pricey Thakur Girls
The Pricey Thakur Girls are adorable - but no way in the same category of our darling Zoya. But then, how many times can an author (even a brilliant one like Anuja Chauhan) can come up not only with a truly memorable main character, but a whole cast of characters who live on with you?Well.... Anuja Chavan enthralled again, unlike the Battle for Bitthora (?). She has captured the atmosphere at the start of the Doordarshan days and the wide eyed innocence. Unlike today, when there are more t.v. chanels than there are stars behind the smoggy city skies, even the start of the mournful DD tune used to thrill.Anyway, Do read the Pricey Thakur Girls. They are sweet, captivating and heart-warming. A couple of characters are a little bit too much on the lurid side, but overall, the books is extremely satisfactory, of yes!So, Anuja ji, go ahead please and keep writing. Inshallah you may manage another Zoya!Cheers
