Well made ultralight, don’t expect much down fill-.runs very tight in fit
Workmanship 10/10Warmth. 6.5/10Fit 3/10Features. 6.5/10Weight/packability 9.5/10Fill amount/loft. 3.5/10The ghost whisperer 2 is a great packable jacket option if found on sale. I paid 155$ which is around 50% off the retail price. I would not pay full retail for this jacket. The main issue for me was how tight these run. It’s very tight in the arm pits , enough to be uncomfortable even when worn with a T-shirt , I plan to wear a fleece under this. Keep in mind this runs tight not small by all accounts you can’t simply size up, it’s only too tight in certain spots, the cut is simply too anatomical so those of us with extra weight will need to hope it stretches or we shed the weight.Combine the very right fit with the dismal full amount and you have slightly compressed down (what little down is in the thin, narrow baffles)Keep in mind many think fill power means how loft the jacket is, it DOES NOT. Fill power tells you how lofty the down is not the jacket. To have a lofty jacket that’s also light weight you need a combination of high fill power with high fill VOLUME. Many sites do not list the fill volume. For example this 850 fill down jacket has way less loft than my guess 650 fill, but this jacket compresses down much lower. If you like a lofty cushy jacket this isn’t it , this is ultralight and not for snow.I’d reccomend the montbell plasma 1000 down parka, or the rab Zero g for the most luxurious down filled baffles.I do reccomend this jacket for ultra lighters who plan to layer this between a fleece and a shell for temps above 25 degrees FWorkmanship is very high quality, and for its weight it seems tough, make sure you don’t hike it in though ,without your shell at least, and if you must remove it and pack it away if you do any bushwhacking or the trail isn’t maintained , as it will get holes if you go through brush. These are camp jackets not for bushwhacking.

Consider your need before purchase; sizing is off; not great for backcountry
Jacket is extremely lightweight. I wanted a lightweight jacket for high exertion activities (steep trails, snowshoe) that could keep me warm under a variety of weather conditions. I do volunteer trail work (yes, even in the winter months) and am familiar with weather conditions and layering. This jacket is lightweight and is perfect for carrying in your pack for the constant change in mountain temperatures (sun exposure, clouds, altitude). Layers well under a rain jacket. Wearing the Whisperer as a standalone, the low down fill will not keep you warm if you are not moving or in the wind. Additionally, the lightweight outer fabric and low down fill mean you cannot wear a base or lightweight mid layer and stay warm. I did a test in 20-35 F and was surprised how quickly the arms cool and the jacket provided a just tolerable core comfort. Also, there are no hood adjustments (back or front sides) and I found I need to wear a ball cap to fill the extra space (reduce wind) and maintain a degree of peripheral vision. What bugged me was the sleeve length. The size chart indicated the sleeve length for a large was 35 in. That is my actual and I expected about a 36 (which would work). The sleeve length on this jacket is 38 inches. Much too long. Best use in my opinion is as a town jacket vice backcountry. There are other products that could meet your needs better and at a lower price point. Cannot recommend.

Expensive and delicate
I bought this very light weight and Very expensive jacket for hiking. I wore it around the house a couple of times to test it out for comfort and warmth. Very comfortable and very warm. Unfortunately, very delicate as well. I’ve done nothing to this jacket and already the down is starting to come out in places. I’m not sure if something punctured it (like a gust of wind) or if the down just pops out on its own, but it is worrisome and disappointing. Im guessing that when I actually use this jacket for hiking, it will be destroyed after one use. Too delicate and not worth paying $200+ for a product you can only use a handful of times.
