Best Fat Separator
Some of the reviews here say that they removed the cap and you should not follow their advice. The cap is that so that when the plug is in, air is trapped in the spout that prevents juices from running up the spout as you fill the separator with pan juices. Then the fat doesn't enter the spout at all and stays on top of the separator. After you finish filling in the juices, you can remove the plug and the spout will fill only with juices. The fat stays on top of the separator. So the gravy you make has the least amount of fat when the separator is poured out. Great idea. There are other separators that have this feature but this is only one that I could find made from borosilicate glass. I had considered buying an older model at home goods about 6 years ago and it's a good thing I didn't because the older version didn't have the cap. So don't pull the cap out unless you want some more fat to contaminate your gravy.

This is a great item...but
That stinking cap was all but glued into the nozzle it took 2 people to get it apart to wash it. After washing it and then being able to use after a power nap it works extremely well as the fat rises to the top in no time at all as this is a step up from my last separator (good thing it melted) or I would have never found this gem. Worth the price and worth the trouble to remove the inner nozzle.....

Works well, but glass is very thin
We bought this because we wanted an all glass fat separator. It works great at separating out the oil and I liked the filter attachment. Also loved that it was big and could hold 4 cups. But a couple of usage notes:1. The silicone stopper needs better design. It's hard to pull out especially if it's wet. Also, see #2. I was always worried breaking the neck that you pour out of.2. The glass is incredibly thin. It is not at all like your thick pyrex measuring glass. I ended breaking the bottom of the glass when stirring the inside with a spoon. Just be gentle.Overall I'll look for something a little stronger/thicker in my next fat separator. Hope this helps readers!

This is a keeper!
What a great product! I've had several fat separators over time. They melt. They break They dribble stuff all over everywhere. This one has a stopper in the pour spout so you can fill it and wait until the fat rises to the top. Then you open the stopper and only the liquid comes into the spout; not any of the fat. The whole thing goes into the top rack dishwasher and comes out perfectly clean. I suggest you keep the box for storage.

All glass fat separator.
This fat separator has been my go to for more than 20 years. I lost my first one in the divorce. I broke my second one by tapping a metal spoon on the rim too hard. This is my third and the quality is just as good as my other 2.
