Why is this a better option to bic lighter in a baggie of tinder?

Because a bic lighter + baggie of tinder is something you have to remember to take with you. These fire starter zipper pulls don't require you to remember anything. They are ALWAYS there attached to your bag or jacket. This wouldn't be your "plan A" for fire starting. It's just a backup fire starting option for the time when your lighter is dry and you have no matches. This zipper pull is a last resort. Look for "bayite Small Ferro Rod Survival Drilled Flint Fire Starter with Toggle Hole for Paracord Bracelet". I have one of those little ferro rods laced into each of my hiking boot shoe laces + these zipper pulls on my backpacks and jackets = ability to start a fire anytime/anyplace. I don't have this stuff to replace my lighter...it's just a safety net.
