“A delightful sleigh ride for the picture book crowd.”
It’s hard to choose what I liked best in the colorful, story of a little girl, her pony and her little red sleigh. When her dog wants to go along for the ride, she doesn’t mind taking him in her “one-dog sleigh.” But before their ride ends they have been joined by a mouse, a bear, a deer, a lynx, an owl, and a squirrel. By and by the overloaded sleigh gets caught in a blizzard and stuck in the snow. Eventually, by working together they get free, but there’s more excitement before the day’s adventures end happily.Ard Hoyt’s warm colors of the animals getting onto the sleigh completely fill the pages and their antics will keep children enjoying the action beyond the time it takes for the story to be read by themselves or to them.Young children will also enjoy the word choices, such as JING-JING-JINGLED and SMACK, CRACK, KA-WHACK!-Hope Irvin Marston, author of EYE ON THE IDITAROD: AISLING’S QUEST

hitch up for a sleigh ride!
A little girl heads out for a sleigh ride in her small sleigh. Her dogs wants to join in so he climbs aboard. As they ride through the woods all sorts of animals want to ride too. Soon the sleigh is packed tight and the motley crew is tuck in the snow. You won't believe how they end up getting back on the road. The story is told in rhyme making it fun to read aloud.
