Glad I purchased this now right before December (and while it's on sale!). It looks much nicer in person, pretty darn adorable. The white detail is actually on top of the red, raised. I scratched it for a few seconds with my fingernail to see if it might come off, but it didn't. I will store it in the bag it came in during the months I do not use it to keep it looking nice anyhow.I probably wouldn't have purchased a faceplate for my Ring because it seems like an unnecessary expense. However, Ring sent me a code for a free faceplate when I purchased the doorbell. I was surprisingly happy with the quality and look after installation, so it changed my mind a bit. I get plenty of compliments on my purple doorbell.😅 I have been worried about the plastic bending or cracking when tightening the screw at the bottom of the faceplate. The faceplate will bend ever so slightly to conform to the unit, but I do not see any damage or weak spots in the places where it is tightened down the most. I would reccomend these faceplates to add a little pop of color to the front of your house, if that's what you're looking for :)*My doorbell is the Ring 3. I do not think this will fit the original Ring or Ring 2, as I have seen different options for those models.

This is a really nice black color, and much darker than the darker cover you get inside the box of the actual Ring. When I purchased the Ring doorbell, it came with the silver and a very dark grey. I’m glad I ordered this black as it goes well with the black railing and black trim outside. It has a bit of a texture and it’s a matte finish. No shine really. Clips on and uses a special screw to hold on, like the ones that come with it.

As described. Great way to change the look of your doorbell.
