I used this on my laptop and on the back of my iMac so the portable drives aren't lying around on the desk, prone to the cord getting lose, etc. They're snug but enough space for different size drives. I mainly use the Samsung T7 drives with this. For your laptop, I recommend getting a short cord with elbow on each side so that there's not much stress if any on the connections.

This has strong tack and won't leave an abundance of residue if you want to remove it. I stuck it to the back of my tv in the living room because I use an external drive to watch some content. The drive is discretely hidden on the back of the tv. Cool little product.
