A very nice looking cutting board. It is well built and does the job.

Pretty cheese board, but thin
The unique herringbone design is what drew me to this item. It would be perfect for a cheese board, dessert board or even just to display in your kitchen when not in use. That’s more than likely what I will be doing with it. I’d hate to create any knife marks in the wood and ruin its good looks. I like the contrast of the darker and lighter woods that makes the design stand out. I did find the surface a bit rough in spots and I may rub it down with some mineral oil just to give it some sheen and smooth things out. The top of mine is perfect however the back has a large wood knot in it that I don’t find so attractive. It looks like a burn mark at first, it’s so dark. I understand it is a natural product and knots are to be expected, but that piece probably should have been rejected. Also, the board is not very thick—barely over half an inch so this is something to keep in mind. It will not take a lot of abuse. In fact, the first board I received broke at the seam in shipping and a replacement had to be sent. I would be willing to pay a bit more if it was thicker.

Handsome, affordable, fragile
Although this is a beautiful looking cutting board, the chevron shaped/herringbone pattern seems to make for an inherently fragile construction. The first board I received arrived with a corner that was completely detached. The wood split right along the grain. I think it’s due in part to the board’s thickness, and because that the corner is only supported on one side for only a short length. Of course I had this replaced, but I can only imagine that over time, with use and exposure to water, that cracks and fractures would develop with some frequency which is a bit worrisome. That being said, I think it’s well suited for decorative purposes. I enjoy using handsome looking boards like this one for vignettes. You can place a vase, candle, and/or other decorative items on the board as a kind of platter helping to define the boundary of the display. Overall, for the price, it’s okay. 3 stars.

Very nice
This cutting board is about 20% larger than a sheet of paper and is about 3/8" thick. The herringbone pattern is very nice and very aesthetic. The surface is smooth and it functions well as a medium sized cutting board. It can also be readily used as a charcuterie tray.

Poor quality.
I ordered one of these and received it the next day. On opening the box, I found the board was split completely through 1/4 the length of the board along the center seam. I really love the pattern and filed for a replacement, which was also delivered the next day (today). I opened it and this one is split completely through 1/2 the length of the board along the center seam. I’m sending both back and not getting a replacement due to poor quality/workmanship.

Should have heeded the other reviews
I knew I should have listened to the other reviews but I’m stubborn like that and I need to learn the lesson on my own. This is terrible quality. Let’s start with the fact that the seam in the middle isn’t even glued together correctly plus you can see glue on the surface in several areas and there’s chunks of wood taken out. Just the overall feel of it is not good. Absolutely not worth the money.
