Memory Unearthed: The Lodz Ghetto Photographs of Henryk Ross

You know what you're getting fine photographs of soon to be martyred people. Anyone with an interest in the Lotz Ghetto will not be disappointed. My only wish is that there were even more photographs encluded..

My grandparents left Lodz at the beginning of the 20th century so were themselves saved from the Ghetto experience. But I could not stop thinking who among the many faces may have been distant relatives of mine who stayed behind, only to perish in the holocaust.

Words become meaningless as you look upon lives that will soon be snuffed out. Yet, Ross'swork shows life in the mist of horror and asksus to remember the nameless.

Wish they had put all of his photos into this book

I really wanted to like this book, but it was not that interesting. I suppose as an historical document and the suffering it documents it has merit. But as the photographs showing the suffering, or interesting or just being a great book, I would not put it in that category. It is hard to write a poor review for something that is important, and the risks the photographer took to take them.

Heart breaking photos bringing life in the ghetto to us, the reality, the texture of Nazi times. Highly recommend.

Excellent recapture of tragedy. And the world ignored. Roosevelt and Churchill were whores ; anti Semitic bastards. Booms stays it all !!!

Moving book. Everyone should read about the topic matter, and this collections of photos is quite stirring.

wow what an insight fab book what a find

A wonderful, terrible account of the Lodz ghetto.

A haunting time capsule worth remembering. I missed the AGO exhibit but this book should be one of many reminders that humanity must triumph over inhumanity. Very well presented.
