Works for those with dopamine reuptake issues, not serotonin issues!
I've been trying various nootropics lately as a possible solution to the chronic, mild depression and anxiety I have lived with most of my life. I also tend to become very distracted by my own thoughts - apparently I don't have ADD or ADHD as I've tested negative repeatedly since my first visit with a psychiatrist at 11 years old. It's simply a matter of my thought processes being "cluttered" and going off on a tangent when I should be focusing on a single task at hand, but I can work very efficiently when I concentrate and really put my mind to it. Having worked as an assistant to a psychiatrist and seeing first hand the damage that prescription anti-depressants can do, as well as the absolutely insane pharma-culture these doctors participate in (free golf vacations if you order more Xanax! We'll order lunch for the office staff too!), I've held out through the years and absolutely refused to take anything for my depression. There's nothing quite like seeing a doctor prescribe Adderall to a four year old who "fidgets in his preschool class" to turn you off from psychiatrists. I've tried St. John's wort before with zero results, so essentially gave up. Recently I ordered some L-Theanine + Caffeine after doing some research and reading all the glowing testimonials online. BIG MISTAKE. I took one in the morning and HALLUCINATED all day! Not serious, trip-like visions or anything, but visual static, weird colorful after images and swirling patterns. It was nuts! I also felt sort of drunk and out of it. I've never done LSD or anything like that so I really can't compare. The only other time I've had anything like that happen was with Ambien - The first night I took one for insomnia was terrible. Those hallucinations were serious, full-blown reality warping living nightmares. Needless to say I never took it again. Instead I now use valerian, which work wonders. Anyway, this True Focus is the first thing I've taken that has had a positive impact on my mental state. I really believe that brain chemistry and function are highly individual and vary widely. Some have issues with dopamine reuptake, for others its serotonin. The antidepressants your doctor prescribes only deal with serotonin - these same people most likely benefit from L-Theanine and catecholamine. I believe I am one of the few who must improve dopamine function instead. True Focus works wonderfully for that. If you try common/popular nootropics that work for others but cause averse effects for you, try this, and possibly L-Dopa as well. The L-Dopa seems to make me almost too giddy and energetic when I take it, so I've kept it at just two True Focus each morning. It could help those with more severe depression or mood swings, it's just a bit much for me. Try it out if other products don't work for you. Perhaps you have different brain chemistry than most! UPDATE: I've found that these work AMAZINGLY well when taken with black (plain) coffee. I'm guessing that some component of True Focus potentiates the caffeine in the coffee, though I haven't tried them with a straight up caffeine supplement, so I can't be sure. Just a suggestion to try if you'd like an extra boost in the morning.

Helped me out of a life slump, improved ADHD symptoms.
I can't complement this product highly enough. I had undiagnosed ADHD as well as some difficult life events that sent me into a slump. Even when I forced myself to get enough sleep, go to the gym, and eat healthy, I still felt miserable and depressed for seemingly no reason. I stumbled across this product back in October 2016 and gave it a try. Within an hour of taking the first capsule I felt better than I had in months; I was focused and motivated to get things done, and happy about it too. On a neurochemical level, my experience is consistent with the claim that it helps boost dopamine and norepinephrine. I didn't know it at the time, but I had ADHD, which is correlated with low levels of both those compounds in certain areas of the brain. Stimulants like Adderall and Ritalin are designed to boost levels of both, but aside from being prescription drugs and much more expensive, they can deliver too much "chemical brute force" and create additional difficulties. True Focus is more likely to produce mild effects, due to relying on the brain to create the compounds in a more natural fashion. The down side, though, is that things like meals (especially high in protein) can negate the effects. From what I've read, amino acids compete for transport across the blood-brain barrier, so when you digest protein those amino acids "crowd out" the ones in the capsule and make it less effective. Also, it's still a stimulant effect, so it can create sleep issues and physical fatigue if used too much, even though it is milder than other alternatives. For me, it was an effective method of "bootstrapping", getting myself going and focused enough to figure out how to correct the underlying problems caused by my ADHD. I used it at the recommended dosage (2 per day, in between meals) for over two years without seeing any tolerance buildup, which was great. Recently, however, I've only needed 1 per day due to starting supplementation with a high quality Omega-3 oil (Nordic Naturals lemon flavor). That combo, along with improving my sleep quality (5mg melatonin, sleep mask, ear plugs) and some talk therapy, has reduced my overall ADHD symptoms so much that they're barely noticeable. It's safe to say that I wouldn't have gotten this far without stumbling across True Focus and giving it a try. Highly recommended!

Thought it was Placebo but it may not be!
I'm in PA school and I study all day every day. As someone with mild ADHD, I struggle to last all day. I also struggle to hold a conversation some days and my mind will just slip somewhere else. At first I was taking these, I noticed nothing. I also was not a fan of the pills floating because I definitely gagged a few times while taking them. However, since being off of them for about a week, I definitely feel a difference. I am all over the place, I'm tired, I cannot listen in lecture or hold a conversation of more than 5 minutes. The reason I'm writing this is because it may NOT be BS. It still may be placebo, but if you're struggling, I would consider giving it a try because it's not a huge risk for the price. I would definitely recommend looking up drug interactions with some of the primary ingredients because it may interact with some anti-depressants, antipsychotics or anything that alters your neurotransmitters because I know reactions to those can be rough. I'm going to try a few other supplements so for now I'm going to give this a 4/5 but I may return and repurchase the product again.

Helps me focus and lifts my mood
I almost bought these on accident when trying to order more True Calm. I was confused as to why people would be taking True Calm in the morning, then I realized it was True Focus. I've been using True Calm for several years and have been pleased with all the Now Foods products I've tried, so I figured I'd give these a try. Things have been a bit rough over the past year, with COVID-19, being stuck at home most of the time, losing my job twice due to the pandemic and just everything about 2020. I've also previously been diagnosed with ADD, and did benefit from some of the medication that the hack of a psychiatrist prescribed me, but sometimes it would make me absolutely crazy and sick for hours so I haven't consistently been on ADD medication (I don't know that I actually even have it since only 1 doctor has ever diagnosed me with it, but I do get distracted really easily). I do have a medical card and have found alternative medicines that help me focus fantastically, but that's not always an appropriate option, especially now that I'm working again. In comes True Focus. The effects are subtle, especially since I typically take just one a day, but they are noticeable. I feel that my mood has been elevated a bit and I am able to focus better. I still get distracted, but nowhere near as much as I do when I don't take it. I definitely notice when I forget to take it. One day, I just could not focus on my work and realized as I was standing in the bathroom at noon, cutting my bangs, I realized I'd forgotten to take it that day. Unlike my ADD medication, this has never made me feel hyper, amped or loco. I've never gotten nauseated or crashed from it. I just feel a bit calmer, more peaceful and able to focus on the job at hand. It seems to have helped ease a bit of the depression I've been dealing with as well. I think this is definitely worth a try if you're struggling with focus and maybe dealing with a bit of depression.

Brain Elevate is better for me
I tried this instead of my usual Now Brain Elevate. For me, there was a noticeable difference and True Focus didn't work for me. I felt more brain fog and mental sharpness just wasn't there. Now Brain Elevate for me works much better.

Good focus support and improved mood
I 've been using this for about 6 weeks and I am definitely buying more. I take two pills first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with water. I wait at least 30 minutes before eating. I noticed some results on the first day, but I was still skeptical that it was working. I had been studying for a licensure exam and really needed help focusing calmly while studying. In the past, even in a quiet room I could get distracted. I've tried designing study times in many ways and none really worked. When using this and reasonable study habits, learning was significantly improved. What I experienced while using this was: less wandering thoughts, improved concentration and the ability to ignore some external distractions that usually would have destroyed my focus. While using this my own mind/thoughts didn't wander off topic. If interrupted while studying, I found it easy to go back to my work. I could easily focus without feeling frustrated that I couldn't concentrate. I also have to say my mood overall has improved too. That isn't surprising given the combination of nutrients, especially L-Tyrosine, in the product. My mood also probably improved because I was so much less frustrated while studying. This was not a miracle drug. I put some work into improving my focus beyond this supplement. I tried to eat well balanced meals, and to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep. Of course, improving sleep and diet will also improve concentration/mood, but this product definitely helped.

A convenient supplement for my daily routine
I’ve been really pleased with NOW Foods True Focus. I like that it combines several ingredients in one formula rather than requiring me to keep a collection of separate bottles on hand. The combination of amino acids, ginkgo, DMAE, CoQ10, and grape seed makes the formula particularly appealing to me. The capsules are straightforward to take and have been consistent in size and quality. I appreciate the familiar NOW Foods packaging as well, and the bottle is easy to store in my supplement cabinet without taking up much space. What I like most is how easy it is to incorporate into my routine. I’ve personally found it useful on days when I want to feel more mentally organized and focused, and I like having it as part of my overall daily routine. I prefer describing my experience that way rather than expecting a supplement to produce some dramatic overnight effect. The consistency has also been good. The capsules are uniform, the ingredients are clearly listed, and the product feels thoughtfully formulated. I also appreciate that NOW Foods provides a straightforward supplement rather than loading it up with unnecessary extras. The bottle provides a good amount of product for the price, especially considering that the formula combines several ingredients that could otherwise require separate supplements. That makes it a convenient and economical option for me. Overall, I’m very happy with True Focus. I like the ingredient combination, capsule format, consistency, convenience, and value, and I’ve had a positive personal experience incorporating it into my routine. It’s a supplement I’m happy to keep on hand and would purchase again.
