This seller did just enough to hide the fact that the hole is too small for birds, and did just enough in the photos to convince you otherwise.Notice how some of the photos seem to have a larger hole than others. Including (most importantly) the leading advertisement photo.That being said, it's very pretty and sturdy. I wish the manufacturer used an appropriately sized drill bit... (honestly, of all the things to mess up...)Amazon's quality assurance is basically nonexistent these days. You cant trust anything on the site.

I’m disappointed. The birdhouse is beautiful but the opening is too small for any bird to enter. I’ve watched chickadees and wrens attempt to enter this birdhouse but they struggle and attempt to peck at the opening but can’t get in. I was really looking forward to watching some birds nesting in it but it appears I’m just going to have a garden ornament instead. I’ll have to put some mesh in the opening to keep out the wasps.

I have no idea whether the birds will like this, but the house is very pretty and is sturdier than I expected. This is a thick-walled, heavy ceramic piece. I did encounter one problem: The loop in the metal hanger that goes through the loop on the lid of the house was too tight to fit over the ceramic loop, but I was able to bend the metal a little bit to make it fit.With ceramic bird houses you have to be EXTRA careful about placement. The house needs to be shaded from full, afternoon sun. The instructions with this product say to place it in the north or east side of trees. I would go further than that and say that it needs to be under a dense tree canopy or in the afternoon shade of some structure. I have this hanging under a garden arbor that is covered in vines. We’ll see whether the birds use it.

Absolutely IN LOVE with our new family of Chickadees. We had Chickaedees a week after we put it out on our tree. We didn't even have to entice them with food. The bird home has a cool green color that blends into our tree beautifully. Its an amazing purchase and probably the best purchase of the year. We watch the birds from our porch every morning. Product works great, it is very sturdy with a steel hook. And did I mention how happy the birds are!

I bought this a year ago when it was a little late for nesting, but this year a pair of black capped chickadees are nesting in it! There are some reviews complaining about the size of the hole being too small for birds, but mine is just fine and so cute. The hook it comes with is sturdy and has kept the bird house in the tree without issue since last year, so this bird house is a good purchase.
