Pure Evoke Spot DAB+/FM/Internet Radio Wi-Fi Bluetooth Compact Hi-Fi System, Cotton White, 476399

Kitchen radios aren't something you buy that often. Our old one gave up the ghost after 15 years. So I wanted something that would be a radio and a bluetooth speaker - I was always slightly irritated by having a speaker sat on top of the radio. Following extensive research, this seemed to be the best compromise. And it's very good. Firstly, it's small. It doesn't take up much counter space. Secondly, I like how it looks. Radios are a rare example where retro stylings are still the thing. Most radios look like my gran's radio did. This one doesn't. My wife and I both like how it looks, but my teenage daughter hates it. Set up is a doddle. There is a small flip up screen that lets you choose mode and navigate and set favourites. You can use as Bluetooth speaker, but it's also got Spotify Connect, which is BRILLIANT. The most common cry in our house used to be "CAN YOU DISCONNECT FROM THE KITCHEN SPEAKER?" With Spotify Connect the person who's nearby can just use it. That works really, really well. That said, the bluetooth reception is also very good. Some other radios reportedly sound worse with connected via Bluetooth - this does that very well. The sound is good too. It's perhaps a little bit bass heavy, but we have an open plan kitchen diner, and it easily fills the space with good quality sound. There's no distortion at higher volumes and whilst you'd not use it in a nightclub, it's plenty. So, overall, this is good vfm, sounds good and looks good. I'm very pleased with it

I bought this Pure Evoke ‘Spot’ DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) Radio basically to replace an Evoke H3 radio I’ve had for a couple of years - one which is still going strong but which is now being used in another room. However, this new evoke ‘Spot’ model in comparison seems slightly better designed than the H3 model, especially if you intend to use it as a ‘Radio Alarm Clock’ as the Spot model doesn’t have an annoyingly bright display (like the H3’s which is far too bright at night and can’t be switched off and which disturbs your sleep). This for me is a great plus for this Spot model. However, as well as offering DAB Radio, this model also receives FM radio stations, Internet radio and allows Streaming (including Spotify). In terms of sound, the Spot produces a very natural and pleasing, and very clear and well-rounded sound; and given its small size, the sound’s got a surprising amount of presence. (Don’t forget though that this is still a mono system and not a stereo one, and Hi-Fi purists would not consider it true Hi-Fi, however, for most practical listening purposes, I'd say the Spot Evoke produces a great sound and is a great performer.) The top foldable cover on the unit, which covers some of the unit's controls and 'Menu options', can of course be left open at all times or left closed, depending on what you’re intending to use this device for and maybe on whether you're likely to be switching between different music sources a lot. Some of the appeal of the Pure Evoke Spot for me at any rate, stems from its compact size and and also from its fairly elegant looks (it’s just slightly bigger I think than the Evoke H3), however, for a good reception of DAB Radio and also for FM signals, it requires its telescopic aerial to be fully extended (which somewhat misleadingly is never shown in any of the product’s illustrations), and anyone looking to buy one should be aware that when extended, the aerial is about 60cm (or 2 Ft) long, and therefore, in reality (unless used for Streaming or Internet Radio ONLY), you won’t be able to situate this radio in a small bookcase, as I think some of Pure’s marketing blurb suggests, and in truth it's not quite as compact when its aerial’s up nor does it look quite as elegant! The Spot comes in a choice of two colours ‘Cotton White’ or ‘Coffee Black’. I went for the ‘Coffee Black’ one, although it's perhaps more accurately "Coffee Brown" rather than Black. Although relatively expensive, I’m very pleased overall with my new Pure Evoke Spot DAB Radio and especially with its clear and quite impressive sound.

This Pure Evoke Spot is a brilliant and compact audio unit, positioned in a bedroom where dab+ reception is poor, so bought for the internet radio feature. Easy to use controls, easy to set up, (including wifi), ideal compact size and unobtrusive appearance. Great sound. The UNDOCK app works seamlessly with all important features, so no need for a separate remote,

This little pure Spot is fantastic in every department, strong reliable WiFi, internet radio with the undok app makes it so easy to find and add your favourite internet stations, the 20 watt speaker is powerful and base rich. I haven't tuned in dab or fm radio because internet radio gives you so much more but it's reassuring to have them though. A brilliant little radio for the bedroom with 2 alarms. The one slight let down is the sleep timer which is only a maximum of 60 minutes, all in all though a superb radio from pure.

This a nicely featured radio which has good reviews from several reputable consumer organisations such as WHICH and What Hi-Fi magazine. The sound very clear, with good volume. I found it very easy to set up and use. As it comes out of the box the sound is very heavy on the bass, with voices - particularly male - very boomy. With music, the bass is thumping. You can have a separate app on your phone which allows remote control of the unit. The app also has an equaliser which allows some reduction of the bass. How much of a problem this is depend on what you want the radio to do. For background music or speech listening in the kitchen while cooking it may be fine. Pop and rock fans might find the bass very acceptable. But if you are looking for soothing speech and good fidelity for classical music, this may might not be right for you. With the bass at its lowest setting in the equaliser app I thought it acceptable for classical music listening in the kitchen, but my wife found it intolerable.

Very pleased with my Pure Evoke Spot. Good sound quality and not so difficult to set up as some reviewers have suggested. Eespecially njoying the bluetooth option with my phone for Spotify and BBC Sounds.

Nice little speaker,it was working well until I had to move it,after this all that happens is the white screen of death,customer service told me its faulty and contact seller but unfortunately its out of warranty.so that's it..

What a great lovely DAB+ Radio, small Footprint great for when you have a busy kitchen. Display is very good and clear. Bluetooth sends over images and shows what’s playing on the evoke screen. Just a note on radio favourite storing - find the station - select the station - press the heart butting and then choose the number slot and it’s done. I kept pressing the heart and expecting it then to store. You have to select the station first not just find it from the list. Great sound and it looks fab toesy

Brilliant little internet radio! Connection and set up is easy. I've used it primarily for the internet radio, and there are thousands of station from all around the world to choose from. Choose via country, genre of music etc etc. The save function is very helpful and easy to use so you don't have to go searching for your favorite stations. The system is compact which means it good for all rooms and doesn't take up a lot of space. The sounds is far better than I expected, the bass is good and the clarity is on point. You can play with the equalizer to adjust levels if you feel you needed to. Let's be realistic, it's a 20W speaker so don't expect the liquid in your glass to vibrate, but you could happy host a gathering using it if you weren't expecting it to evolve to a club scene. This is the smallest speaker in the Pure Evoke range and I would definitely consider the 40W or 100W version in the future.

Very impresed by the quality, base and loudness of sound from this small device. Very nice small screen with all the comands, easy to operate between the radios (classic, dab, web). I recomend the purchase. Excellent internet radio.

Uitstekende alleskunner met een razend goed geluiden eindeloze mogelijkheden. Het design is uit de kunst. Enige opmerking bij een wit apparaat hoort ook een wit snoer te zitten en niet zwart.

Pure Evoke Spot Spartano e semplice nella veste nera o bianco cotone mi ha sorpreso per la qualità del suono con una tendenza ad esaltare un poco le frequenze medio basse, adatto a un ascolto prolungato a basso volume (de gustibus). L’equalizzatore metterà tutti d’accordo. Sotto lo sportellino si accede alla plancia di comando/programmazione simile a quasi tutti gli apparati odierni. In pochi minuti si apprendono le varie funzioni di ricerca/sintonizzazione delle stazioni Internet, Dab e Fm e la loro memorizzazione. Per usare lo Spot come riproduttore di altre sorgenti è utile, anzi, indispensabile il Bluetooth. Il display è leggibilissimo e dimmerabile come anche l’anello luminoso intorno alla manopola del volume. Sono presenti la sveglia e lo sleep per chi vuole essere accompagnato ad incontrar Morfeo. Ottimo il suono anche a volume medio alto, in rapporto alla classe di appartenenza dello Spot. La descrizione particolareggiata della programmazione credo sia un inutile spreco di tempo e termino con l’affermare di essere di fronte ad un oggetto più che valido.
