The Unsung Hero of My Toolbox
This little green tube is the ultimate bolt babysitter. I had screws on my lawnmower that thought they were auditioning for Cirque du Soleil—constantly twisting, flipping, and popping out. One drop of this threadlocker, and suddenly they’re calm, stable, and finally committed to staying put. What I love most is how easy it is to apply—no crazy odor, no giant cleanup, just a drop that does the job. It seeps in like magic, and the next thing you know, your hardware is locked in like Fort Knox. If you’ve got machines, bikes, or gear that rattles apart, this is basically the duct tape of bolt security—only classier.

A very good product.
This thread locker works very good on assembled parts, I use it on bolts and nuts.

Is this the right adhesive for you?
You may not realize it, but anaerobic adhesives (glue that cures in the absence of air) can be tailored for many different situations. This Loctite product is meant to penetrate fastener threads that are already tightened down. It wicks very well into the enclosed thread surface then hardens. Another characteristic of these adhesives is that they have both a break away torque and a prevailing torque. That is, it takes one level of force to break the bond and another to continue to thread the fastener. You want the breakaway torque to be nearly as strong as the fastener to keep the fastener holding the assembly tight against cycles, wear, and vibration. If too high, you will have to break the fastener to remove it. The prevailing torque will dictate how difficult the removal will be but also allow the joint to remain intact with a slower total loss. This adhesive is only for medium and large fasteners. Small fasteners are too weak to absorb the breakaway torque. FYI, I thought it was too strong but tested it anyway on a pin hinge on the back of a broach. Those pesky fasteners tend to swing open when not desired, leading to loss of the jewelry. I hoped I could break the joint after curing, leaving the prevailing torque to provide some resistance to rotating. It was, as suspected, too strong for those tiny pivot joints in jewelry pins. No, I didn't damage the broach, I bought a box of pins from a craft store to experiment upon. The best solution so far is to squeeze the pivot with a pair of plier to create physical reduction of the clearance between the parts of the hinge.

Similar to blue, but oil tolerant. Good for rotary engine oil pressure regulator and oil bypass
Finally added the oil-tolerant version to my tool box. I did a test with a nut and bolt and it seems similar to blue in holding power (unscientific test, based solely on feel). I figured there is a spot or two that actually can make use of this in my RX8's rotary engine so I used it on the oil pressure regulator and oil bypass, so oil is what they do and where they live.
