More environmentally friendly that Roundup, works on many annual weeds and grasses
Here in So Cal, weeds follow rain like clockwork. And since there was an untended lot across the street from me, I have about 15 years of weed seed accumulated in the soil. In addition, I'm trying to install a drought-tolerant native landscape, which requires that I clear the front yard first. Digging out weeds and grasses turned out to be a never-ending task. I have tried many different options, including hand weeding, various "organic" weed killer, flame torch, and glyphosate and decided to try this one. First, it is not OMRI (organic gardening) certified. But being a chemist, I researched the online Safety Data Sheet and found that it is mostly C8 and C10 saturated organic acids, which can be derived from coconut oil, with 20% "other" (nonlisted, therefore presumably non-hazardous surfactant). According to what I can find, the active ingredients are non-cancerous, not persistent, and do not bio-accumulate. That's a plus. Taking a cue from other reviews, I mixed it at the higher concentration and sprayed it on a variety of emerging and established weeds and grasses. First of all, it works really well on most newly-emergent weeds and grasses, including spurge, foxtail, and oxalis. It coats leaves evenly and - unlike glyphosate- "burns" them quickly, so I can see in two days where I missed, and re-spray where necessary. It does NOT work on established grasses, even tho I saturated some clumps thoroughly, and does NOT work on common mallow. Because it only works on leaves, and not seeds, it must be re-applied on each new crop of sprouting weed and grass seeds. But because of the nature of this weed killer, I feel more comfortable re-spraying, and with each application there are fewer and fewer sprouts to contend with. Overall, this spray will make clearing the yard much easier, and reduce the amount of hand-digging by about 70%. It IS pricey, but because of the combination of positive qualities and the amount of work it will save, I feel it's worth the cost.

Thorough and fast working
I’ve been using this product for a couple of years now. Works great! It also works super fast. Just don’t spray it on anything you don’t want dead.

Kills most weeds in my vegetable garden
I use this weed killer in my vegetable garden as it is organic. After steady rains, the weeds start popping up in my vegetable gardens and has fast same day results. I refuse to use chemicals around the vegetables I eat. This concentrated formula is cheaper and more effective than high concentration vinegar making it a good value for my money. You need to keep shaking the spray bottle as the plant oils separates from the water solution. It is non-selective so you need to be careful with the over spray. It has a strong odor but it goes away after a day or two.

Very effective on broadleaf weeds--but also does a number on grass
The 1% solution sold in stores is ineffective--I sprayed driveway weeds two weeks in a row, the weeds hardly noticed. But the 3% solution using the concentrate is VERY effective--kills weeds in a matter of hours. ***BUT*** Don't take the "kills weeds, not lawns" claim on the spray bottle literally: the 3% solution kills grass right along with the weeds, a fact I learned the hard way. *****UPDATE***** One week later, half the "dead" weeks are greening up again. All the weeds in the attached photo were shriveled and brown last weekend, but apparently they were just playing possum. This product simply does not live up to its claims. Have switched to the vinegar/salt/soap solution. So far it looks at least as effective as the iron-based weed killer, only slower--it takes a couple days instead of a couple hours. BONUS: the vinegr-based solution costs very little, a tiny fraction of Captain Jack's product. BOTTOM LINE: CAPTAIN JACK'S PRODUCT IS JUST PLAIN INEFFECTIVE--DO NOT BUY.

A nice, and effective, surprise!!
I was so tired of weeding my pathways and once Captain Jack’s was suggested I jumped on it. It is very effective in killing most weeds in a very quick time. I find I have to go back on stubborn ones after a week or so but Captain Jack gets them every time. - and it harms nothing else in the environment!!!

Got Weeds?
This concentrate is perfect for areas where weeds are a nuisance. Here in Georgia we get all kinds of weeds growing especially in the woods of northen Georgia. The concentrate allows you to pick a solution strength. Every year I am fighting Bermuda Grass growing into my driveway that is not concrete but dirt and rocks and this stuff kills it roots and all. It is also good for spot weeds in your grass but spray carefully because it can kill your grass also. I highly recommend this and it is environmentally friendly.
