Incredible, powerful read!
This was one of my most anticipated reads and it did not disappoint! Lost in Beirut is a beautiful, true story about love, loss, and tragedy- and it takes place in my home country, Lebanon ❤️🇱🇧 I read this book in 3 hours! I started it on a flight home and absolutely couldn’t put it down. I got off of that plane with neck cramps but it was so worth it 😂 This book has a special place in my heart. My parents are from Lebanon and I have many family members who live there now. It’s a beautiful country that constantly faces instability and can’t catch a break. Ashe and Magdalena do a great job showcasing the highs and lows of Lebanon in this book. Reading this took me back to that specific point in time- eyes glued to the news while waiting to hear if my family was alive. My best friend at the time was visiting Lebanon and I was terrified she wouldn’t make it back home. Reading about Ashe’s experience was so surreal! It was perfectly descriptive and full of emotion, and I felt the heartbreak immensely at the end 😭 it highlighted the reality of a war-torn country and feeling completely lost amidst the chaos. But it also shined a light on the people of Lebanon and how resilient they are. It made me feel so proud to be Lebanese ❤️ This book is definitely an eye-opener, and I highly recommend it to ALL readers!I know that writing this book and facing that PTSD couldn’t have been easy, but I’m so glad this story is out in the world. Ashe and Magdalena, thank you for sharing this with us ❤️

An emotional roller coaster of love, loss, adventure, war and terror.
Ashe weaves words in a way that makes you feel like you are a part of his grand, and lavish adventures. This book clips along at such a great pace, with so many twists and turns, that I couldn’t put it down and had to finish reading it in two days. This particular story seems so relevant in todays climate, with first hand knowledge of all of the pain, suffering and fear caused by war. The juxtaposition of the thrilling love stories set amongst a background of seemingly endless wealth make it difficult to read at many points. This is a book that I have sat and thought about many times after I completed reading it. All of the people were so fascinating, I truly wonder what has happened to them in years since.

Fantastic read
This is a beautiful story that captures the reader from the start to the end. I felt like I was one of Ashe’s friends and could see and feel the adventure while blasting through kindle pages. I usually read fiction for the excitement that is usually manifested with creative imagination, but this true account was enlightening and inspiring. I appreciate the author’s invitation to share such a significant moment in time. Curious to know about the fate of the characters. Very well written and a fantastic read.

Gripping adventure
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a very entertaining and often intense read. The story is about Ashe, an American living a super glamorous Hollywood life who gets trapped in a war zone in the middle east. It is both gripping and eye-opening to the Israel, Hezbollah conflict of that time. His first-hand depiction was both fascinating and tragic. I read this book in two days which is about 1.5 weeks faster than I generally finish a book. I think it would be a superb movie. 5 stars.
