MATLAB for Brain and Cognitive Scientists

I bought this book in conjunction with Cohen's courses on Udemy (Master MATLAB through guided problem solving and MATLAB onramp 2020). The book covers mostly same topics as the courses, which is something that I found useful to study (when I have a lot of energy, I read the book and do the exercises from scratch; when I feel more tired I watch the online courses).The book is quite enjoyable as a read, Cohen sprinkles some jokes and wit throughout the chapters to keep you awake. I have never done any programming as of July 2019, and a year later with this book and Cohen's courses I feel I have acquired basic competence at MATLAB.

This book is an excellent companion text to Cohen's other text "Analyzing neural time series data" because this book gives additional insights in how to use and program with Matlab to do the analyses of in the 'time seriess data' text.

Ottimo per un principiante. Passo passo, esercizio dopo esercizio, Mike insegna a maneggiare matlab e i suoi strumenti, stimolando la curiosità e l'ingegno per trovare soluzioni ai problemi posti. Ho finito l'introduzione e finalmente ho abbastanza conoscenze da scrivere un semplice script e leggere script complessi costruiti dai miei professori, sia per la semplice programmazione che per complesse analisi statistiche.

Mike Cohen books are typically clearly written and he has the talent to explain complex scientific concepts to all levels of reader. I have all his three main books and although havent exhausted them have found them so far very helpful to get started on EEG research as someone with no background in code or mathematics.
