Honestly I don't think it's terribly loud, and the super short lanyard makes it difficult to attach to anything. It floats.

This whistle appears larger in the photos. In actuality, it's about the size of a small box of matches. I do not have a noise level meter but I would be shocked if it actually put out 122 dB. It doesn't sound that loud to me.
