GREAT PRODUCT
This shovel is not light weight it is not a heavy weighted one as well. Push shovels are just that you push it not like a shovel where you have to scoop up the snow and toss it. This is a well made sturdy snow push shovel the other one I have for 20 plus years is not built like this one I just purchased from Amazon, I did nit want to buy a plastic push shovel and some were not built sturdy 2 years in the market looking for a replacement thisvone from amazon went up in price in the late summer to $49.00 from $19.00 it thought about it I was going to go for the $49.00 price. I got an email about price changes it went back to $19.00 I scooped it up great price these push shovels save the pain in the Back, shoulders because you just pushit. And have a scoop shovel with you when clearing out snow once again GREAT SHOVEL WILL LAST ANOTHER 20 PLUS YEARS

This IS your father’s snow shovel!
As an engineer, my father had a passion for efficiency. The first time I tried shoveling snow in front of him, I started to lift and throw it. “No! You push it off the walk like this,” he explained. Unless you have a foot or two of heavy snow to clear, this approach is most efficient and safe for your back. His tool for this was a shovel with a curved steel blade and a solid wooden handle—just like this shovel. Although a lightweight plastic version can be used with light snow, where my dad’s shovel and this one truly excel is with hard packed snow and ice. To remove that nasty stuff, I position the shovel under the ice and kick it hard. Do that with a flimsy shovel and you wind up with the one on the left. The Garant shovel on right is actually a better shovel than my dad’s because it’s wider and it has the red diagonal supports shown in photos. I saw a negative review about it that complained about its weight. Yes it is heavy, but that is why I wanted it. I doubt that I will ever need another snow shovel. This one will definitely outlast me! Trust our neighbors to the north—with their snow, they can’t mess with a plastic shovel.

Great shovel
This shovel is the one you expect when you buy online, but rarely receive. We live in Chicago where we have lots of snow to plow for our drive way, and this shovel worked great for both powdery snow and icy snow to unbury our cars. With the metal blade, it helped break up ice and felt very sturdy.

I spent many hours trying to find a good pusher snow shovel with a steel blade
I spent many hours trying to find a good pusher snow shovel with a steel blade, and found many very positive reviews about Garant shovels. I'd had a poly blade pusher for years, which lasted until the neighbor's boyfriend accidentally broke mine from trying to lift too much heavy snow with it (couldn't complain, as he was trying to be kind and helpful). I loved the way the pusher type shovels so easily plowed through the snow, as I am disabled. It's like a warm knife cutting through butter. I was delighted when my new Garant arrived. It seems very sturdy and has support braces from the blade to the handle. Good design. The blade looks like it will last decades. And, because the blade is steel, it will handle at least a fair load of snow, as well as being able to chop through ice & frozen snow clumps. I'm happy with my purchase. The only negative was then3 days delay in delivery.

Very sturdy and works well
I got this because an older one had the wood screws that held the blade to the handle had worked loose. This one looks riveted, and feels much sturdier. It is NOT lightweight - but then, neither is snow and slush. The plastic shovels never last a few storms. And this has a real handle at the top, so that if you push and stop to let the snow or slush slide off, you can hold the handle so it doesn't slip out of your hands like the other one I have.

This shovel is the best!
Well, this thing is anything but lightweight, but that's not why I bought it. Actually I thought it was a simple aluminum shovel with a steel tip, it is in fact 1/8 inch steel, all steel and can shovel ice as well as snow. The handle is sturdy and I almost look forward to using it... almost. It should last a lot longer than any plastic or aluminum shovel. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs to shovel snow or ice. I've owned probably a dozen plastic and aluminum shovels and this may be the last one I buy.

Professional Grade Snow Pusher
This is a replacement for the identical model snow shovel I've been using for the past 11 years. This is a solidly built, quality product. It's a heavy gauge steel with enough heft to it to enable it to slide along and scrap snow and ice right down to the surface. There are steel braces to prevent the handle from bending under heavy load. The handle itself is a very hard, thick varnished wood. In 11 years, mine has not flexed or cracked. The sturdy plastic push handle on top of my old one finally snapped off during a heavy wet snow fall this past winter. Along with this replacement shovel, I bought a replacement handle here on Amazon that fit perfectly. So, I now have two heavy duty steel snow pushers for when I have a helper. I love this shovel! It's a great product that is built to last for many years.

pricey but
first this is not cheap or light. that said ordered this when the weather just started to turn and am glad i did. the winter of 2013-14 was a snowy one this shovel held up.the thing to remember is its a pusher shovel, so when we got 6 ionches i went out every hour and pushed what was on the ground. the extra supports stopped the blade from bending. my wife shovels when i am at work, se complained it was too heavy so i got her a plastic blade shovel. we had so much snow her blade wore out.things to remember, when season is over put it away inside (to protect wood handle), also dont leave outside in snowstorm this will disapper in a second)final note , understand the second to last thing i want to do is shovel snow, the last thing is have to run to hd in a snow storm because i cheaped out on a shovel.

Quality Canadian made.
Wow! Canadian made QUALITY!1.) heavy thick steel construction. You'd have to see it for yourself - but I bet when you first handle it - you will be taken back.2.) welded supports on the back of the shovel blade.3.) no screws. Rivets! This thing is built like a tank. Built like they used to be built.I have gone into Canadian tire, homehardware and Home Depot - all in search of a Canadian made quality shovel (and rakes, various garden tools). Never had any luck. Yes the box stores carry some Canadian made products - and I usually buy them - but they haven't been quality like this shovel. As you can tell I'm very excited by this shovel and it's nostalgic, tank like build quality.

This is what snow shovels are supposed to be
Honestly, best snow shovel I've ever bought. My old resin/plastic one which I thought was pretty good broke, so I knew I wanted a full steel/wood shovel and I saw this.It snowed twice while I was waiting for this shovel, so my driveway and walk had a bunch of ice build up. This shovel just cut through it and took everything to bare pavement. I've never owned a shovel that so easily gets the worse of the ice and snow build up off. I almost look forward to snowfalls so I can use the shovel again... Almost.

I was more than happy to make a puchase
As many have stated before me, I too was having a difficult time finding a steel snow shovel at box stores. So when I found this at a very fair price, I was more than happy to make a puchase. This replaces a plastic shovel that would just skip over any snow that wasn't fresh powder and had difficulty with even just slightly packed down sections. I'm incredibly happy with this shovel and does everything right. I can finally fully clear any snow off my driveway and sidewalk. The only negative thing I can say about this item is that because it's steel, it has some decent weight to it. Nothing obscene, especially if you purchase the smaller width size like I decided to do.Wonderful, high quality product and very pleased with purchase.

Quality steel shovel with sturdy handle and weight.
Quality steel shovel with sturdy handle and weight. I grew up in the Prairies where you could not survive winter without at least a couple of quality shovels. I have grown up using heavy duty steel shovels and find that they were much more effective than their plastic counterparts.Pros include long lasting quality (steel shovels in our family have lasted over 15 years), and the weight helps you scrape every last bit of snow off the ground (I find plastic shovels sometimes ride up on top of the snow like a sleigh which doesn't really get the job done). You won't have to go over the same spots over and over again with a good steel shovel.Cons are that it is a bit heavy, so be warned if you are not ready to do some proper lifting and build up a bit of a sweat. Stick to the 24-in width.

Slightly heavy, clears well, get a bigger shovel for easy snow removal
Its great if you want to completely clear stuck snow. However i didnt like that it doesnt hold much snow if youre picking it up to shovel, the snow will just slip off by itself. Its good for moving snow and then picking up in increments. But it also does tend to get "stuck" so you may have to keep "digging" or readjustingI got the 24 inch shovel because it was on sale (about $20-25 from $50) , im a 5ft female who isnt that strong and this definitely provides more of a workout because of the weight + shovellingI may just get a regular plastic shovel so its easier to move more snow faster and then use this to clear the rest
