An invaluable revenue management resource
I was delighted to serve as a principal reviewer of this text when it was released in its first edition. A comprehensive treatment of the complex, and ever-evolving practice of revenue management in the hospitality industry was long overdue.As good as that original edition was, I am very pleased to state that this revised edition is even better. That is true whether the reader will be a student in a hospitality management program, or a practicing professional with years of industry experience.The book retains, and has updated, foundational information including strategic pricing, demand forecasting, inventory (rooms) management, distribution channel management, and the methods today’s hospitality professionals use to evaluate the effectiveness of their revenue management strategies and tactics.I was particularly pleased to see the new chapter addressing the management of Big data, and the importance of cybersecurity in the ownership and safe handling of transactional guest data.Perhaps most important to its audience is the fact that the text is written in an easy-to-read, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-remember way that is characteristic of the lead author’s work.Instructors selecting this text for classroom use will be extremely impressed with the Instructor Support Materials that have been developed for it.
