Paper's the Star in this Cool š Set
The media could not be loaded. Fun set to cut your teeth on gouache, or worth a try if you haven't experienced this brand.- I've purchased some awesome paper products from Arteza before, such as a large premium watercolor book to die for. And though the gouache paints etc. In this kit are quality too of course, the 20 sheets of paper are š amazing. I adore the texture. (Although I wish they were microperforated or something, instead of the kind that leaves those paper outies when you tear it off so then you have to try to cut it straight with āļø, 'til you can afford to get yourself a nice cutter.) I also wish it weren't only available with this set, which is what the description states. Hoarding time! š Oh my gosh, two down already cuz my mom and I each used one today! (Worth it, my mom made a masterpiece and I made something for my internationally-sold fashions -- I'll use this on pillows, wearables, etc )- Lotsa photos for you as usual, including a sneak peek at my piece today, and a TEENSY mini vid š-. Small, long, plastic palette has 6 wells, not 10 like description says. No big.- wood palette has a thumb hole. They tend to soak up some paint, but I enjoy hanging my used palettes up as artworks in their own right eventually anyway. Today, though, we used it to support my mom's paper on one of my own metal easels, using a rubber band, since...- wooden box has two things inside that move so I assume they would make it hold the box lid at an angle, should you want to paint on it. But I either haven't figured out the right way, mine is messed up, or they move for no reason, š, cuz nope they don't hold my lid slanted. To be fair, nowhere in the description does it promise it will do so. Just weird.- There are some nice organizing slots inside the box. I love organizing containers and as my mom commented, this wood one is nice.- It has gold-colored hardware, a good handle, and is smooth wood. Note it comes unpainted etc. I enjoy that, because I'll definitely paint it funky multi-colored. But if you didn't plan to do that, note that it gets marks on it easily. So you might want to give it a coat of paint or other protective covering like varnish or stain to preserve it.- There is one metal latch that holds the wood palette and pad behind it inside the lid if the box. I wonder why they don't just put one on both sides, cuz the palette etc. Fall down sometimes when you open it, with just one side supported- The outer, heavy cardboard, recloseable hinged box is gorgeous as usual. Helps make the set giftable, for sure. (I'm using mine to keep loose fancy cardstock and vinyl inside, for my Cricut, I just bought from Amazon.)- The color wheel is small but double-sided and nice.- the synthetic paint brushes are well-marked with type names, the Arteza name, and numbers. (My decades-long artist and professor said the other day though that numbers on brushes tend to differ by company.) The brushes come on black cardboard in elastic holders, inside a thin, clear plastic bag with a reusable flap. There is a good variety to get your art groove on. Today we focused on the largest. It worked great for my mom's bold strokes, and then my creation using up the rest of her red paint (cuz letting ANY art supply go to waste is art-abuse! š) As the paint started to dry on it, which happened quick compared to acrylics, it started making stripes for me inadvertantly. I went with it and enjoyed the effect. The brushes kept some of the paint redness, though I washed it immediately when done.- the paint my mom left had dried quick in the palette, but when I added a little water I could use it some more. Most at the end washed off the palette.-. Adding water to the gouache made it have a totally different effect, which is always fun.-The paints are iin little tubes. They come in a cardboard box with no lid. I guess they assume you'll throw them in your wood box.

A great set for this first-time user!
This is a nice-sized (12 ½ā x 9ā x 3ā) wooden box, ready-packed with art supplies to take on the go. It holds a set of 12 gouache paint tubes (all your basic colors), a set of brushes, a pad of gouache paper, and a fiber board type of palette. There would also be room for other supplies one might like to take along. Not having tried gouache before, I was interested to see how they performed. Using full strength with just a tiny bit of water provided very opaque coverage for most colors although some might require a second coat. The colors are very true; adding more water gave more transparent hues. The colors are very basic but in blending them with others (the two reds, two blues, etc.) I found colors more to my liking. These tubes (12 mil.) would give you more than enough gouache for some time.I was most pleased with the brushes provided in the set: a #11 flat, a #6 flat, #8 catās tongue (love this!), a #4 round, and #0 rigger (also a fave). They seemed to hold the gouache very well and cleaned up nicely. They are indicated as being āpremiumā and I would agree with this. Iām assuming they are acrylic although I did not see that noted anywhere. Also in the box was a nice little color wheelāsomething Iāve never purchased but which I think I will get a lot of use from.Iām usually somewhat leery of sets such as these but found this one to be quite nice and I would definitely recommend.

Very nice set of Gouache Paints with an excellent case
This is a review of Artezaās Gouache Paint KitBasically, you get: paints, brushes, gouache pad, and case with palette. You also receive a color wheel and a six-tray color mixerI will start with the paints:Good paints, well mixed when coming out of the tubes, and thick enough to leave brush strokes when dry without cracking. The twelve colors they give you, allow for the mixing of an unlimited number of additional colors and shades. And the colors come out bright and vivid. They do give you two tubes of white, which is a good thing. The brushes:Not the best, but okay. The ferrules (the part that connects the brush to the handle) on the two larger brushes is wobbly; the others are firm. The bristles hold a good amount of paint and deliver it to the paper. The paper:Twenty sheets of 8 x 10 inch / 20.3 x 25.4 cm paper, weighing in at 160 g/m2. That is a good beginnerās weight paper. The Palette:The palette is composed of unfinished wood. You can use it for gouache paints, if they are not thinned down; however, being unfinished, it will stain with the colors you are using. Make sure to clean it off after each use, but do not use too much water. A lot of water on unfinished wood will cause it to warp. If I may suggest, spray, or brush it with a clear sealer, and your problem is solved. It also comes with a six tray, plastic paint mixer that helps in mixing/combining new colors. The Box:I really like the box, it is sturdy and, like the palette, is made of unfinished wood. It has 5 compartments with dividers that can be removed to create a customized configuration. The unfinished wood allows you to customize the box to your individual tastes, or just leave it as is.I plan on coating it with a dark stain and sealer, to give it a more āsophisticatedā look.Bottom LineThis is not what I would call a āprofessionalā paint kit; however, with that said, I would be proud to give this to a new or intermediate artist. As a matter of fact, this one is going to my young
