One of my Favorites
I love this book. My first copy was gifted to me nearly 25 years ago, and I've bought a couple replacements in the years since. In fact, I keep more than one copy around. One is at home, and the other I keep at work. As an outdoor professional, I find this to be the best general purpose guide to my area than anything else. Sure, I'll take a Peterson's or Sibley'd with me for birding, but if I have a general question in mind from common fish, insects, wildflowers or common birds, 9 times out of 10 this is my go to.

Great ID Pocket Field Guide
Love the size, layout and species covered! The only thing I wish it included is labeling what species are invasive.

Book
I'm biased cause I love the Audubon Society but this book is helpful, reliable (as far as I know) has great pictures, and has a bunch of info about local geology and fossils and all sorts of junk that's real neato

Great starting point
I love these regional guides to use as a starting point when I see something interesting. Give me the basis to ask the right questions if I want to explore further on the web. Carry full set in my little RV. Fun browsing in the evenings and then recognizing plants etc when hiking.

Packed with info!
I had this book for many years and gave it away. So glad I was able to get the same one again. I love the info that is packed in this book. Any of this series is great. I highly recommend you getting this book for the area in which you live. Small enough to take traveling with you or keep on your shelf to grab and use. The pages are sturdy and won't tear easily. I'm glad I have it again.

Amazing!
I work in a science museum and found this book on a shelf, then instantly bought! It is a great reference for New England history, geology, ecology, and biology. Many prominent species are discussed and identified. Quick descriptions are relevant and useful. Please note, this is not a field guide dedicated to specific species or classes. It's a great resource for hikes and quick reference. For more detailed information, a specific "Mammals" or "Trees", identification guide would be more beneficial. However I have been able to use to throughout Mass. and Maine. I think it's a great starter to a field guide collection, and easy to carry around since all the information is contained in one book. I also just love to read for fun, it's filled with great information about the formation of New England and the surrounding geology.

Wildlife book
I bought this book and binoculars at the same time. I've recently moved to a home that has a lot of land and wildlife around the property and I wanted to be able to identify the different birds and animals that I wasn't used to seeing at my old house in a neighborhood setting. At first I was just going to get a bird book, but I saw this and I like it better because I can identify everything, even the fish and frogs that reside in our pond. I skip over the insect/bug section because looking at close up pictures of bugs gives me the creeps.

Very useful.
Great to get to know what is out there in nature and for identifying certain animals or plants. Easy to carry around too. Worth getting.
