Highly recommend- a great addition to any library! The recipes work!
I have always been a fan of Danielle’s website, and also of the recipes in her first book. Her style of mixing her depth of knowledge within traditional wisdom and modern sensibilities means that we can have the best of both worlds. Her food recipes have made me fall in love with eating in the ayurvedic way again and her new book has got me excited to experiment with herbs. The remedies are effective and easy to use and the layout is clear; the herbs are in color with a detailed description on one side and recipes on the opposite page. The content has great detail and yet is explained in such a friendly and accessible way. Another thing that I really appreciate about the book is that most of the volume consists of recipes rather than a lot of background information or indexes. And you can dive straight in. If you are worried about not having the ingredients, there are a few basic recipes that are fun to make and effective, with only two or three ingredients such as ginger, lime, Himalayan salt, cloves and honey, which most kitchens already have. Although I drink chai, lassi and golden milk regularly, Danielle’s recipes have upgraded my beverages as they just add an extra zing.I have used and loved Danielle’s teas, spices and cleansing kits. They have been life-changing and effective compared to other brands I have tried. Her book includes all her best herbal recipes and more. I appreciate the fact that she does not hold back any secrets.Although this is a book for beginners in Ayurvedic herbal medicine, it may not be a book for complete beginners as it might be a good idea to have some foundational knowledge, however, the author does a good summary of the basics in the beginning chapters. I would say that it has something for everyone. I like the way that is not just a dictionary-style home remedies for illnesses, but has a nice mix of practical remedies for common conditions, health tonics, relaxing massage oils and beauty tips. It has a balanced mix.And the recipes work! A friend of mine has had a chronic tickly throat cough for many years. She has tried many things and most of them has been ineffective. I sent her a photo of the “Mother Nature’s Cough Drops” recipe and she can confirm that it works! While some of the ingredients might be a bit more challenging to find, the sections at the end on sourcing, and other resources such as online courses, websites and further reading contain valuable information. My favorite parts are her comments and tips in the recipes. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in herbal remedies and alternative medicine—or if you are like me, and just like experimenting in the kitchen.

Danielle knows her craft - Ayurveda
I felt delighted and honored when Danielle offered me an advanced copy of her new book. This book is a great introduction to the basics of medicinal Ayurvedic Herbal remedies.I have known Danielle for over 10 years. I have made many purchases of her Abhyanga oils, spice mixes, medicated ghee's, teas and her last cookbook. What a gift her new book, Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine, is. Her medicinal oils, teas, and spices, I believe are the best. She clearly starts off explaining the basics of Ayurveda. She outlines concepts slowly, which simplifies the philosophy and makes it easy for the reader to understand. This came in handy for me when I wanted to share Ayurveda with my new boyfriend. I was able to read certain parts of the book to him that were written in a way he could understand as a beginner. She also includes in the book a simple discover your Dosha type test. This was great for my boyfriend as he never heard anything about Ayurveda before.Whether you are an experienced practitioner or new to the philosophy, Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine grounds you on key principles on Ayurveda then provides wonderful recipes with an easy to follow herbal directory and remedies. I know this book will have a huge impact for me in creating more balance in my life. I absolutely Love it! It holds a permanent space on my book shelf that I know I will refer to over and over again.

Great way to learn about Ayurveda herbs / Make your own formulas!
**I WAS PROVIDED WITH AN ADVANCE REVIEW COPY OF THIS BOOKThis book is very well done. The first section...one can learn basics of ayurveda (learn your "Dosha") and a bit more complex learning, as a person may like. I like that it's sectioned out....more common individual herbs w/ a "recipe" / remedy on adjoining page; then section on many common "ailments' and remedies for those. Some are not so for the faint of heart (a bit more complicated) and others are "easier". I can see myself putting together quite a few of them. On the Amazon page, there are snapshots of inside the book ....see my referencing. There are good resources for obtaining the herbs and others I've found on line. There are, of course, ready-made formulas that you can buy from on line sellers, however, having some nice, easy remedies for digestion, cough, stress, sleep, fatigue, pain, etc. that you can put together yourself....is great, I believe. Also, from reviewing the common herbs and studying the formulas, you can have a much better understanding of what they do and what you may need for help going forward. There are some "remedies" / recipes for facial, hair care and oral in the book as well. The author is surely well-educated in ayurveda, so I know a person couldn't go wrong with the information presented in this book.
