Once it's in tune, it sounds great. The tiny, outer 2 keys on both sides require constant tuning and those are very picky to tune. Please understand that the tuning requirement affects very expensive models too, not just this lower cost unit.

This is our first kalimba. Planning on gifting it to my sibling who loves butterflies but we are all trying it out for now.The voice is plesent and carries surprisingly well. Which honestly my research left me expecting a solid kalima not to carry this well but definitely happy with the sound.The engravings on the keys are easy to read and meant that i could play a section of 'when we belive' right off the bat.The pictures were true to what was packed into the box and the box itself is a wonderful storage box.It arrived in tune and assuming it holds up well over time it was definitely worth the ~$20 I paid for it.

I bought this for my grand daughter as she plays the flute in band and I thought she might to learn something else. She LOVED it and has learned many new songs on it.

This is my second kalimba which I love to play, this is very nice however it’s a bit heavier then I thought and just holding and playing it for 5 minutes it was starting to hurt my hands when holding it, not good for someone with arthritis. So unfortunately I will be sending it back, and just use my other one which is much lighter and easier to hold without hurting my hand.

Melodious. Beautiful looking and pleasant sounding. Keys are larger. The note engravings are much bigger and easier to read. This kalimba feels lightweight and very balanced in my hands. This one will be a frequent flyer and not just for display.One immediate problem I noticed: The travel case is VERY inadequate. It's just a velvet pouch made of thin fabric. The case is not protective and the kalimba could easily get knocked out of tune while traveling. I'll use the shipping box as a carry case instead.

Worthwhile for price

I didn't think this would go out of tune, but it actually doesn't take much use to find it so. Unfortunately, it was very difficult for me to tune it. The adjustments necessary are minute, and I'm more clumsy than that.
