Loved the sample, but when I bought the Kindle edition there were numerous missing pages. Very annoying so have returned.

Many people may be quick to discount the appeal of this book based on their own political point of view or their opinion of Mrs. Bush's spouse. Doing so is a mistake, as Laura Bush writes an enjoyable account of her life in a kindly conversational tone.Reading this book is much like sitting down for a chat with one's favourite relative or neighbour. It is full of vivid description and prose. A single paragraph on landscape, for example, can be vivid and breath-taking and deserving of a A+ from the most strict composition teacher.But it is is also the content of this book that is full of substance and deserving to be read. For example, Mrs. Bush discusses, in great detail, her adolescent experience as the driver at fault in a fatality car accident, including her regrets and what she learned from the experience. She also describes life in the White House and her experience on September 11, 2001 in such a manner as to make the reader feel like a fly on the wall during those difficult times. She also writes about issues such as literacy with passion and concern. Her account of being the spouse of the leader of the free world is told without any partisan bent (she reminds us that she is "Republican by marriage") with the common touch of someone talking about the work of a a spouse with an interesting job. Anyone wondering "how does a spouse and mother feel when her partner and her children are being criticized and attacked in the most public ways possible" will have an answer from Laura Bush's perspective.Mrs. Bush comes across as a likeable wife, mother and advocate for the causes she believes in and concern for those affected by those issues. This book is best enjoyed if one abandons any pre-conceived notions or biases and submits to an enjoyable read. This will likely be one of the best autobiographies of 2010.

This is a must read for anyone interested in American politics. Not because the book is political, far from it. She has detailed both her early life and life in the White House. Some real fascinating gems on people who have impacted her life. The love she has for G.W.Bush shows on every page.

Es ist auch mal Interessant, mal die andere "Seite" zu Wort kommen lassen. Wer Biographien mag, so wie ich, dem kann ich diese Buch nur empfehlen.
