Barbara has done a great job again in helping those of us who like to carve birds. She repeats a lot of the basic information that she covered in her first book but I guess this is necessary for those who did not buy the first one. She includes the instructions for 5 birds. She goes into such details as carving feathers, the shapes of beaks and legs/feet, and especially the wings and tails. It would be great for beginners and experienced carvers alike. I showed my copy to a friend who has carved birds for a long time and he immediately ordered a copy.

A fellow woodcarver loaned me his copy for some guidance on carving a Blue Jay. When I discovered how well it was writtena nd illustrated, I decided that I wanted a copy for myself. I received this copy in excellent condition and within the time established for shipment. I am extremely pleased with both the book and the service I received.

This is a companion book to Daisey's first book, Songbird Carving. Both books are chock full of detailed pictures and illustrations (albeit many of them black and white) and comprehensive instructions. This volume covers different birds than the first, otherwise they are pretty similar. I would not be without either of them.

I am an amatrur bird carver who has just branched out from duck decoys to songbirds and one of the hardest things for a bird carver to find is paint references. This book not only shows carving but painting as well. it is a gem of a reference that is very old (1995) but very valuable.

I purchased Vol. I and thought why didn't I know about this book, so when I saw Vol. II; it wasn't difficult to decide I had to get it also. Both are excellent sources of references for specific birds. Any one who wants to learn or improve your skills, these are books to have. Joe Saxton; Varna, Il.

Fantastic book! Detailed , step by step , instructions for carving a song bird. Great book for beginner , wood carver and professionals. Also has detailed painting instructions. Thinking about getting the other book by same author.

This is by far one of the better bird carving books on the market with great photos,illustrations,plans and explainations. A must have book but Amazon has over priced it by $20.
