Fantastic product, great value for money
The Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G's biggest strength is its excellent user interface. Both its router and its client card setup interfaces (as well as the client utility) are of a maturity and simplicity rarely found in this class. The WRT54G also includes an extensive feature set, with many security options such as WEP, WPA with preshared key, and 802.1x, as well as MAC address filtering. You can also create time- and date-based access policies. Gamers will enjoy the ability to open a range of ports or configure triggers to support online gaming. In addition, the WRT54G offers a DMZ and QoS bandwidth control. Excellent, context-sensitive online help and UPnP support round off the offerings.Although the WRT54G wasn't the top performer in our roundup, it scored well at every distance. It didn't drop off as precipitously as others from 60 to 120 feet, and it sent a solid signal out to 160 feet. The WRT54G is a very good entry-level router with a great interface, excellent security, and plenty of extra configuration features.

It does what it says on the box
I use this router for Virgin Media cable Broadband - it's connected to my Virgin modem and it works fine. I gave it four stars because the installation CD that comes with this router is uterly useless.Don't bother using it - it doesn't work properly and it WILL NOT make the installation easier.Instead just type 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar in your internet browser to access the router's settings. Before you do this:1. Turn the modem off.2. Connect router to modem.3. Connect computer to router via ethernet cable.4. Turn the modem on and wait for the lights to stop flashing, then turn the router on, and finally the PC.5. Acess the router settings as explained above (use admin for user/password).6. To set up wireless select wireless tab:a) select wireless channel if required or leave the default oneb) don't worry about SES button, leave it inactivec) select wireless security tab and change security mode to WEPd) enter anything in the passphrase box and click generatee) write down the number shown in the KEY 1 box (make sure you copy it EXACTLY)f) done! now you have secure network and you can use wireless anywhere in the house - the password is the number you wrote down in previous step...

This router is floorless it performs like nothing I have ever seen
This router is flawless it performs like nothing I have ever seen. As this has just replaced a Netgear X6 purchased only 6 months ago I have over 15 devices married to this router and it just gets the job done without any hesitation the Netgear has a number of floors and would not recommend this router for any gamers as my daughter has had problems from day 1 with the X6 but Linksys is just the Rolls-Royce of the router world its software is simple but very robust and performs all tasks without missing a heartbeat I would advise people to purchase this router but also take a look at the reviews on YouTube it gets glowing reports and it's obvious why it's a POWER HOUSE BEAST that will take some beating Netgear you need to up your game or get left behind as Linksys have a true winner. The comments I make are in relation to the new WRT3200ACM

Need a good router that lasts longer than a year
This broadband router is very easy to setup and use, but and it's a big but, it only lasts about a year. I have had 2 and both died after about 13 months. Given that the router is never moved, or touched, for both of them to die at the same time isn't a coincidence. For what you are paying there are better choices out there. Your money will be better spent not buying this if you want something that lasts longer than 1 year.

No good with Sonos
I bought the Linksys WRT54GL for general WiFi use and to use my iPad to control my Sonos music system. It worked fine for everything and was easy to instal, but it will not work with Sonos. I replaced the Linksys with a NetGear product and that worked perfectly with everything including the Sonos.Linksys support we very unhelpful and, worst of all, they were disinterested. My recommendation is do not buy this product if you have a Sonos system, consider it with some caution if you are not planning on using Linksys support.

A day lost every six weeks or so trying to fix this piece of s*%t
If you enjoy losing the plot every couple of months because this unit decides not to talk to your lap-top (for no apparent reason), then spend away. Lynksys support assumes you're a geek, so not much help there. Mine went in the bin today as I'm not going to spend any more time trying to get it working, again.

Great router for the price, but in my case it didnt work straight out the box!
I'm really pleased with the quality and WIFI coverage of this router, it is a very good buy at just over £40. However..... in my experience it took nearly 2hrs to get it working. After running the setup CD and numerous reboots of my laptop, the router, and my ISP router etc I still had no internet connection via the Linksys router. The steps I personally had to follow to get it working were:-1. Download the latest firmware for the Linksys router and install it (which was very easy using the dedicated firmware update tool built into the Linksys interface). Just plug a network cable into any of the 4 ports on the Linksys router and go to 192.168.1.1 using your internet browser.2. Clone the MAC address of the PC/Laptop you are connected to (again, easy using the built in tool).3. Change the Linksys default router address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1After all of the above; the router then worked perfectly via both WIFI and network cable, and I get great coverage across my house.
