Yo-Zuri Hydro Squirt Floating

I purchase several of these lures for my husband, who is an avid fisherman. They are nicely made sturdy and great for fishing stripe bass and blues.

Been using these for years. Slow troll around kelp beds in the evening for big WSB. Only problem is there needs to be a set repair kit for replacing the skirts. I have made the mistake of trolling these in Baja and even in So CA during El Nino - Trigger fish love to eat soft plastic. Kept on thinking I was snagging kelp in the current, pull up w/almost the whole skirt missing. Have tried to replace myself by guessing size to cut the skirts, 1/4 inch too long or short really can affect the swimming action. Also need to rinse well, hooks do rust well. People think of squid vertically and near bottom. But they do rise to spawn, primarily as the sunsets or moon rises in the dark. But even on some cloudy days. Watch them dart around - troll these lures at this time and hold the rod in your hand (I am in Hobie Pro-Angler). Don't go too fast, but then make longer pulls and set backs with the rod tip when in the zone - looks like a darting squid. Often the bite comes on the set back. I was 4 for 4 on consecutive 4th of July trips in LaJolla as the fireworks went off - prior to the last El Nino.
