Motorcycle Workshop Practice Techbook (Haynes Repair Manuals)

While I half-expected a marginally useful text on outdated and colloquial British shop practices, I actually found an easy-to-read and very complete manual on techniques, products and tools for the home garage, hands-on moto enthusiast. There's even a bit of humor in the very well written text. Photos, while typical Haynes black & white, are plentiful and useful. I did, in fact, read the book front to back and found insight in every chapter.I'm a DIY guy who's been at this for about fifty years and would recommend the manual as a worthy addition to the garage shelf for anyone who finds shop time to be a good time.

Lots of good advice. Some of the info I knew (most DIY'ers will know quite a bit of this). But a lot was new to me - very useful. Even if you're experienced, it's good to get a proper explanation about certain things, or the use of particular tools. I learned quite a bit about different tools and tasks that I thought I already knew everything about. Very useful. Get the Basics and Fuel systems books too.

I had a hard time figuring out what this book was all about only by it's description here on Amazon. There was a lot of reviews, but they all seem from folks who already knew what this book was, or from teacher and workshop students.I know that the title seems self explanatory, but it isn't. This is a book that will teach you all about tools: how to use them, what are they for, tips, tricks and much more. If you are new to motorcycle mechanics, this is a great help.It's not a "coffe table" book, with beautiful pictures and glossy pages. It looks more like a schoolbook, with black and white pictures and cheap paper. But it really does the job. If you are like me, who didn't have any formal training in mechanics and like to learn on its own, its a perfect book.I've never had any grease monkey around to teach me stuff, and I've never taken a workshop class in my life. This is the kind of book that fills that void in my education, teaching me things I would have to learn the hard way.I highly recommended it to all the self taught grease monkeys out there. You can't go wrong with it.

Very well written and thought-out. Describes use of different tools and applications for various workshop projects. I cannot imagine not having this and it will be re-read many times as I work to repair my motorcycle, car, house, ....

Excellent text

I've been wrenching my own bike for about 2 years now and I have found the Haynes series in general to be extremely helpful in aiding my mechanical endeavors. The workshop Practice techbook is a step up from the basics and is full of excellent information if you want to go beyond just changing your oil and lubing your chain. Fidell gives a good description of the more obscure and common tools of the trade and their application in the world of motorcycles. In addition, if you have the space and want to set up your own shop he gives a good list of what you are going to need. If you want to learn more about the inner workings of your bike and what it takes to service it you should get this book.

There are lots of great tips on how to maintain and work on your motorcycle. It takes a bit of reading to grasp some concepts, but you learn much of the theory behind the various repairs you can do. Highly recommended for the motivated motorcycle mechanic.

I bought 3 books in this serie: Electrical, Fuel Systems and Workshop Practice. These 3 books ads a lof of information for not a lot of money, I really feel safe in what im doing now instead of guessing. Buy them today!

Despite having worked in my garage on a variety of mechanical/woodworking projects for over 50 years, I found I could learn a lot from this basic book on using tools and equipment.A lot of the information is basic, but very useful to those who have never studied on an official course. A very good book for the demanding DIYer covering choice, use of tools and safety concerns.Thoroughly recommended for the shed-based amateur or young mechanic.

This is a technical book more of a guide and certainly not a substitute for a specific workshop manual, but useful for anyone who wants to seriously work on motorbikes as a hobby of as part of a course of study. There is much to study and the book ranges from the basics to more complex tasks and activities, describing the use of tools and techniques. A good book as part of a wider set of books for the budding motor bike mechanic.

This book is a must-have. I've worked on bikes for the last 5 years. Been a tech for 10 years and i learned a lot of new things in the first 5 minutes reading this book.One of the best books i ever bought.

This book is informative and handy to have on the shelf.
