apart from chip on item I received its a good starter board
Standard Skateboard================This is a 31 inch length skateboard and 8 wide pre assembled. Daughter is using this as a starter board. This board is good for teens and above. For smaller feet or younger ages you may be better off getting a smaller board.Being 8 wide has the added advantage of working with most trucks, (the part that attaches the wheel to the board). if you're looking to later swap out the trucks for a different set - you wouldn't want trucks that stick out, or that would rule out most tricks like kick flips etc since there would be a bolt sticking out. This board is made up of a 7 layer maple ply. Maple wood is the most commonly used wood for skateboards. It’s flexible and durable which allows for it to be shaped easily without sacrificing strength and quality. Most standard boards come with a 7 ply deck, and the more expensive ones are around 9 ply. The cheaper boards are plastic; they should be considered a toy or a fashion accessory rather than a true Skateboard. They are fun for kids but ultimately they won't allow you to learn or progress. The grip on the board is quite good - coarse and grippy. While some like it a bit smooth, the grippier it is, the better for beginners, and those that prefer it this way.If you are a skateboard buff, you are probably looking for a cruiser, longboard or even a slightly narrower board for tricks. This one looks pretty decent, trucks look quite sturdy and turn well, quite good grip tape already on the board. Wheels are a little stiff, and maybe the light up wheels are a little gimmicky, but that's just my personal taste - some will no doubt love these. These wheels are big enough and not too small where you're going to hit every little rock, but big enough to take you over most terrain. These are probably the first things I would swap out of these. Although they are only steel bearings they are still good enough, as you get better you can always swap out the wheels and upgrade to faster ceramic bearings if necessary. The board that was sent to me had a chip on it already , which is not a good start. Not had the board long enough to comment on longevity, but I'm wondering how well the board will last doing tricks if it already gets damaged just by going through the post, or perhaps it was just poor QA and they sent this one out by mistake. The board looks great for a starter board, or gifting as a starter board. If you're gifting for someone who already skates they may already have their own specific preferences

A really nice beginner skateboard
This is a standard sized skateboard which I got for my kids to learn on . It's got a nice stable board and the wheels freewheel nicely but not too fast. It has a good graphic desing on it and the wheels actually have built in LED's which the kids have found very cool. It is easy to maintain and very helpfully, the tools needed to attach / remove bindings and wheels are all included in the pack. This is a good value starter skateboard that will take some hard knocks and is easy to maintain. It's very kid friendly also.

Stay clear of this skateboard, cheaply made
My daughter had this for her birthday 2 weeks ago off her grandparents. The anti slip was bubbly from the beginning and now its just doesn't stick. One go and less than two weeks old.
