Special Supplies Sensory Compression Vest Deep Pressure Comfort
A**R
Perfect for my sensory seeking toddler!
My son (2.5 years) has sensory processing issues, and one of these is needing additional vestibular stimulation. Lots of swinging, spinning, and banging. When he gets visibly overwhelmed by this need, we give him a "big squish" -deep pressure hug- which calms him down instantly. When we introduced this vest, we called it a "squish vest," and he was hooked! On the first day he happily wore it for hours, and was upset when we told him he couldn't sleep in it. We have had it for about a month now, and he regularly picks it up, brings it to me, and asks for "my squish on." He's a tall, lean boy, wearing 3T or 4T. The vest wraps all the way around him so the velcro straps on each side *just* meet in the middle. Enough pressure for him now, and plenty of room to grow! And the very sturdy construction seems like it will last a long time. And the velcro patches are the kind that are smooth, not scratchy loops, so that's a bonus. His smile when he wears it says it all. Best purchase ever!

Fantastic compression vest! Comfortable and secure feeling.
Young adult on the autism spectrum. I have bought two of the Special Supplies Sensory Compression Vests in different sizes so I can compare both at the same time, and then very easily return whichever one doesn't fit the best. I ordered a size small and a size medium, and for me, the small is perfect!I'm kind've at the awkward size for vests, I'm in between a small and medium, but that size doesn't exist, and that's fine. My stats for comparison, I'm 5' 4", 120lbs, chest size of 31" under the armpits. Though I'm bigger than the measurements and recommended size, the small vest hugs me perfectly with room to grow. It stops right above my belly button, which is fine, but could be a tad longer in between the small and medium length. The armholes are sized just right so the back of the vest doesn't dig under my armpits.I love this vest. It's comfortable! It's not stiff like the weighted/compression combo vests, it's nice and flexible, the velcro is way more quiet and softer, and holds insanely well. Like other vests, it's made of this nice neoprene material I love to touch and feel, especially because it's perforated with a dimple pattern, which is a very nice texture to touch. I tried one other combo vest that had a mesh window front and back on the upper chest, and that created an awful sensory experience as my skin felt exposed and was more itchy, but also because the mesh was designed for "cooling", it replaced the dimple pattern on the neoprene, which was originally designed for cooling...I have tried a few weighted/compression combo vests over the years and after using them for so long, I've come to the conclusion that a combo compression vest with weight is an awful sensory experience as the weights are on the inside of the vest, and this is bad because in order to feel the compression effect, the vest has to be snug, squashing the weighted bean bags into your body, and that is the worst feeling ever. And let's be honest, you cannot fit enough extra weighted bean bags into a weighted compression vest so that it'll work effectively for an adult or bigger child. Also the velcro on the pouches inside those vests are sharp and are way worse than a shirt tag on the back of your neck, and with those you HAD to wear something under it unlike this compression vest, you can wear it directly and be comfortable! The velcro on the outside of those combo vests are so bad, they're too LOUD and very very prickly, I try to avoid adjusting those at all times and just slip the vest on and off. So yeah, those combo weighted compression vests? They're a terrible sensory experience. For me anyway...I recommend if you need a weighted vest AND compression vest, get both separately as weighted compression vests DON'T WORK. Put the compression vest on first, and then get a loose and heavy weighted vest and then you'll have the best of both worlds. I'm just going to use my old weighted/compression vest for weight only while wearing this compression vest. What are you waiting for, buy this vest today! Take it from me, someone with autism that is very picky when it comes to my sensory system.I will soon add pictures to help support this review.

Too tight for comfort
Unfortunately it was too tight for my child to like. Returned.

It's hard for me to figure out how adjust it, but I love the vest and find wearing it very calming!
I'm an afab, non binary, and autistic person and I used to wear a binder to hide my chest. I always felt so uncomfortable and sometimes I didn't want to take it off, not because of how it looked since I was alone in my apartment, but because it felt uncomfortable... I thought that was dysphoria until someone told me it might be that the compression itself helped with my sensory needs. And that's how I ended up buying a compression vest !I was super excited to get it, though a bit scared of it not fitting (I took an M size, my measurements are 31.5" chest and 17" shoulder to waist, I think it fits well !). It is hard for me to understand how to adjust it in a way that's both effective and comfortable (especially when I'm sensitive to touch around the neck etc), and at times all the efforts and time to adjust it perfectly aren't worth it, but it's been great once I put it on !The vest helps me a lot to know where my body is and avoid loosing balance, bumping into things, etc and I find the compression lessen my anxiety overall. I do not like wearing it under clothing, so I put it over a shirt, and my other clothing fit just fine over it (I wear unisex/men sweatshirts, blouses and hoodies usually, I'm not sure how it would fit with other clothing)
