This book is living, breathing New York city itself
A brilliant book that's as good as Londoners, Taylor's other piece of work. The author gets a diverse array of New Yorkers to open up about their life and times in NYC and the result is quite fascinating. It's an opportunity to live the New York life vicariously, experience the city by proxy. A very enjoyable read 👍

NYC - Unvarnished and Endearing
If you love and miss New York, you have to read this book. During these times, this is as close to NYC as you are going to get.It is an honest account of the city and its people that you will ever read. You will learn more about the fabric of NYC than you will anywhere else.It is raw while at the same time very touching. You will want to go to NYC after you read this book!

Fantastic. The literary equivalent of Chex Mix
In the lineage of Studs Turkel, Jean Stein, Joseph Mitchell, “Please kill me”… A fun and enthralling congregation of first-person tales of living in New York, New Yawk. The full gamut of human experience, punctuated by the author’s own relationship to his subjects and the enticing chaos of New York. Funny, elegant and deeply human.

Should be a podcast than a book
I love NYC it’s such a great great place. So was really looking forward to this book. What a disappointment. Too many rambling and uncohesive stories that didn’t really tell the history of the people involved and made it frustrating to read .Should have been heavily edited to make the flow of the contributors easier to digest or should have been produced as an oral or podcast type project. Maybe half a dozen interesting people and viewpoints but the vast majority instantly forgettable. Didn’t even bother finishing the final quarter of the book

Autobiographical stories from real people.
Like the London book, here is a book to dip into and explore. A real joy.
