URSNACKS Freeze-Dried Fruit Durian Chips,Single-Serve Pack, Non GMO, Kosher, Gluten free,Snack 2 Ounce

After having seen the humble durian make an appearance in many travel and food shows (and in a couple of video games), I wanted to experience the notorious odor and flavor for myself. The odor wasn’t as pungent as I expected, but it was pretty rank. With trepidation, I took a small bite and….I did not gain 4 heart container refills (ahem Hearty Durian from BOTW, I’m looking at you). I did taste the most disgusting, life-changingly offensive, gag-inducing flavors I’ve ever encountered. If I had to guess what an onion farting in a sulfur mine tasted like, it is freeze dried durian. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 10/10, worth every cent.

The first time I knew of durian fruit was 25 years ago in Taiwan, when I was forced to eat it. I wanted to vomit out because it smelled like poo. But through time, I became like it very much.I had a friend with 3 times miscarriage and miserable. She heard about durian fruit helpful so she and her husband faithfully eat it daily, then later they had 3 other pregnancies and now 3 children. Durian fruit worked wonders.

We were excited to try freeze dried durian and upon opening the first little individual sized snack pack and sharing the small pieces with my children we were horrified to crunch on what could only be described as a rancid garlic flavor. We were unable to eat it and all three of us had to spit it out and were left with a disgusting taste lingering in our mouths for hours. Overall a very unpleasant experience.

I’ve been trying new foods from different countries recently, and have absolutely love or hated some of the things I’ve been trying. I’ve been wanting to try durian for years! I’ve heard how stinky it is and seen reviews of westerners tasting it. I was sure I’d hate it, but like the one chip challenge I had to try it for myself. Unlike that’s stupid chip, there were no regrets with this. The smell is like garlicky custard. The taste is like that but much more intense and like nothing you’ve ever tasted. These are freeze dried so I’m not sure if the fresh version would be better or worse, but now I gotta try it. Cuz I actually really like the flavor.

I have tried 5 different brands of freeze dried durian and this is by far the best taste and texture of all of them. It is sweeter and more dense than the others, but it is also more expensive per ounce.

If you have, that’s what this tastes like x100. It’s powerful, really powerful.Me? I’m never eating it again, but I already didn’t like how fresh durian tasted. But if your kid is bugging you to buy durian because they want to taste it, this is the durian for you.
