Monstar Saga: Exiled

A New Universe Unfolds into the Multiverse!!
Firstly I would like to say that I loved the MC of this book. All to often we are given characters that are straight out of a mold, a stereotype character so bland they are tasteless. Eden often gives her readers new and inventive MC but the MC of this book really rang a bell for me personally. Guess its a matter of self identifying. But again following with her strengths the author gives us many interesting characters at all levels of interaction that weave excellently with both the main story and the mythology of the new world. The world of Monstar is also an interesting take on what's becoming a more common trope. It's great to see how this book differs from the normal versions of the trope, like the MC mental companion or the various monster races interacting. One other interesting factoid that I personally loved in what I guess we can term the Edenian or maybe the Reddian Multiverse is the reappearance of the goddess of Vala. Honestly being such an avid reader of her works, Vala's appearance or mention will always mean interesting things to come in the story. It's not just the characters that are the strength of the book, but there's also an interesting dynamic for the character power growth, the setting itself was also a masterpiece. All too often authors do the land from far away or the mix of urban city and Tolkien magics, but here Eden describes a unique area that is a mix of urban, frontier, pioneer and ancient ruins. Its a really delicate balance to attempt and the author handles it *chef's kiss* perfectly. As I so often say with Eden Redd's books, can't wait for the next book to happen!!

Great story with a little bit for everyone…
First, I’ve read Redd’s Pirate GF series, and it’s fun, but this one blows that series out of the water.I liked that the main character is not the normal run of the mill human, and I love that there are monster girls, especially the cow girls, or taur! (It may or may not be your thing, but after this book I’d bet it’s more of your thing than not)There is plenty of action, dialogue, and adventure in this one, and by the time I was finished I wanted to read more.Redd’s writing has improved dramatically, and I truly feel the interactions between the characters are believable and really move the story along.I think my favorite part about this one was the town/kingdom building aspect, along with the farming. The things the main character does to level is unlike anything else I’ve read.I’ll definitely check out the next one.

Enjoyable but don't to it if you expect litrpg
Many reviews are saying this isn't litrpg, and they are right. its not a bad book but is written by an author that seems to struggle with detailing out powers, strengths, and giving a coherent view of abilities. Because of this, we have fun story with upgrades that don't mean anything.1: The magic system is based on points, you can go up to twelve. It's explained that as you gain power you get other abilities but this never happens. We see the main hero gain points but his powers don't change in any way. in the first 50 pages, he can set his arms on fire. By the end, he had doubled his power and has gained nothing beyond making those arms turn to fire. Zero expansion.2: He gains access to Body magic, this makes him stronger. Even as he gains dots in this sphere of magic, he gains no additional powers, even the strength and speed he gains don't seem to increase. Nor is there ever an actual explanation of this power. Is he stronger than an orc, is he weaker, is he faster than the other dragonkin, does anything at all happen when he gains levels. No, sadly it doesn't.Every upgrade he gets is like the examples above, they don't build on each other or expand his powers or abilities. Even as its stated that is exactly what they are supposed to do. Instead, he gets points right, left, and center, all for nothing. Maybe you think this changes with the second book .... it doesn't. Same abilities, no changes despite gaining points, no new abilities in the magic he already knows, no interesting spells. Nothing but flaming hands and his body is stronger .... with no detail on what stronger or faster means. This author always does this, comes out with a great system and then drops the ball on upgrades. Instead of expansive powers we get flaming hands, a niche power useless for 99 percent of the time. Can he move fire to his weapons? No. Can he shot fire? No. Can he manipulate fire? No. Can he make other body parts flame? No. Nothing, no attention given to any of the magic at all.

An awesome new world
Without going into spoilers, this is a unique combination of slice-of-life and action. Honestly, the star of the book isn't the MC, it's the town lich. He may not get as much "screen-time" as the MC or others, but when he's there, he takes over. And there's already a sequel in the works, so we have that to look forward to.

Outstanding.
Eden has outdone herself here.IMO this is her best worm to date. This book is magic. The main character is real. He feels, thinks, live, and fights. The world is impeccably built. Mysteries and hints of more abound. All the side characters are also complex and interesting. Each has their own motivations and desires. This story is extremely well written. Read this or you are missing out.Eden Redd, dang girl, you did good. Really good.

Good book, excellent ending
The book was generally pretty good, strong fight scenes, slice of life that was enjoyable.Really liked the ending especially. Multiple reveals I did not expect but that fit into the storyline super well, resolved issues from the story without a cliff (including the epic battle scene), and introduced new problems that left me excited for the next book. Well done.

Interesting twist on the genre.
There are many books of the type where someone is living in a game world. This book has the distinctive idea of humans being functionally extinct and everyone is a monster of some type. The characters are decent even if a few seem a bit under developed. The world and magic is interesting and quite open ended, which I liked. The problems are the MC seems to have numerous hang-ups that seem out of character and may exist to further plot points and not to further the growth of the characters involved.A good book and unique enough to enjoy.

Entertainingly fun
Loved this book, I find all of Edens books good but this is one of the best. The storyline is entertaining and has a novelty that distinguishes it from others in the genre. The MC is a complex moral character that is easy to emperthise with even if he's not human!!. I love that the suporting characters are fully fleshed out and an integral part of the story. The storyline is excitingly paced and the erotic content complements well, The story itself is good and complete but there are a number of questions posed thoughout the book that bode interestingly well for book two.
